On our recent East Africa tour we choose this lodge based on it's location and many great reviews. There are many different levels of lodges to choose from on Safari based on cost, service, location etc. With all of these points under consideration Mahali deserves a 5 star rating. Location and views from the camp and your tents are spectacular. Service is excellent as well as the game drives. The only animal we missed seeing was the Rhino but you have an option to go to a Rhino conservancy close by if you choose. Many times throughout the day you could see Elephants and Giraffe from your own Deck. It would have been nice to have had a small gym to work out in but we were informed this is in the works for the future. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed our experience with Mahali.

This place was unbelievable, the location was superb, the food was delicious, the game drives were spectacular and the rooms were great. The area where the beds were located was a little tight but the huge deck overlooking the Mara made up for it.

Absolutely perfect. In fact I was asked as I left what advise I might have for anything they could do better….I was stumped. Mahali took such good care of myself and my son, from the moment we booked to the moment we said good bye to the gathered staff. Great location, an abundance of wildlife of every kind, amazing accommodations, great food, and so much attention is paid to every detail. In particular, our guide Jonathan was just unbelievably fantastic, so knowledgeable and accommodating and just a really great human being. Our waiter Bob was also incredible and Raymond the bartender is just the best. The entire staff all have such great attitudes, It’s feels like family. We really miss them all and we look forward to seeing them all again when we return.

Beautiful and sleek architecture while also being practical. Our guide, Gideon, showed us all the big cats up close, feels like we could just reach out and touch them! This being the fourth camp that we had stayed in, it’s a tall order to impress us. We saw two cheetah families, huge male lions drinking water, a leopard hiding in a tree and then proceeded to come down the tree, roaring to attract a mate… Johnstone was the most gracious and thoughtful waiter/host. He arranged for a private dinner on our deck to celebrate our anniversary, with many staff singing and dancing around us. And we also renewed our vows! Don’t wait any longer. Just go!

Mahali Mzuri was the first part of a bush and beach holiday. Our first Safari was a superb holiday. I travelled with my husband and this was our first trip to Kenya for both of us. This lovely Virgin’s limited edition property is set in #Olare Motorogi Conservancy. Rustom who was our safari consultant at #Safarinut discussed many options and we were very pleased with the chosen camp. He kept in touch and ensured we were looked after from the moment we landed at Nairobi to the time we caught our flights back to Rome. Our flight timings mean that we had to spend one night in Nairobi before catching a bush plane from Nairobi to the airstrip in the conservancy. We were picked up and welcome at the airstrip, having a lovely game drive seeing amazing wildlife everywhere. We spent three days in the conservancy and saw Lions, Zebras, Cheetahs, Elephants, Hippos, Hyenas and many antelopes – we also saw a Serval cat! Mahali Mzuri is a luxury tented camp and the tents are very comfortable with a sleeping area and a lovely deck overlooking the valley where there is wildlife. There is also a mess area and a help yourself bar, a swimming pool, spa and shop. The food was outstanding and we could choose with chef Joshua what we wanted for the bush picnics. The game drives were excellent and Levi our driver guide was very experienced and helpful. We definitely will be back and want to explore more! The camp is reallly well manage by an amazing staff: Mariana and Wilson the director are always available and helpful with the guests; Wilson with his exclusive attentive service and the Chef Joshua with his delicious meals, and all the other staff made our stay feel in a family. We thanks all of you for this memorable safari experience!

My trip to Kenya last month was outstanding, thanks to the staff at the stunning Mahali Mzuri. It goes without saying that this property is other-worldly, both in terms of the natural beauty and the stunning design of the property: all built to blend beautifully with the environment. Our guide, Jonathan Kas, was top-notch in every way. Knowledgeable is an understatement..he was an encyclopedia of information about the animals, the flora and the fauna. Jonathan was determined and bold. He wanted us to see, and to learn, as much as possible, and we soaked it all in with wide-eyed wonder. Be sure to request him when you go! Another star staff member is Letitia. She took care of us at meals like a mother hen…wanting us to be fed and looked after always! Thank you, Letitia! I can’t wait to return to Mahali Mzuri!

Dear Hummingbird8822, Thank you, thank you, thank you – what an incredible 5* review – your comments have left us all bursting with pride. We certainly like the term ‘other-worldly’ when describing the design of camp and its beautiful surroundings and are over the moon everything was to your liking. Jonathan is brilliant, isn’t he – immensely knowledgeable and passionate about the Kenyan bush. It’s great to read how much you enjoyed your time with him and we can’t thank you enough for giving him a shout out for all his hard work. That said, it’s hardly work with such lovely and enthusiastic guests to spend time with. Thank you also for your kind words about the wonderful Letitia; you were certainly in safe hands with her and she is beaming from ear to ear reading your comments. You really must come back and see us again soon, only next time stay for longer. We’ll be ready and waiting to welcome you back with open arms. Kind Regards, Wilson Odhiambo General Manager Wilson.Odhiambo@mahalimzuri.virgin.com

I don’t have enough words to describe how amazing and unique the whole Mahali Mzuri experience was. Definitely one of the most (if not the most!) astonishing and exclusive experiences in my whole life! Starting from the warm welcoming at the airport, stunning views and wildlife, breathtaking experiences and luxury tents, to the delicious food, most relaxing spa experience, all the surprise programs the staff had organised for us, and not to mention of course the incredible game drives with a private guide who was like a walking Wikipedia, our stay was simply PERFECT. Thank you Mahali Mzuri, you guys are simply awesome ❤️

I have dreamed of going to Kenya for more than 3 decades. Ever since I saw “Out of Africa” and learned about Karen Blixen in the late 1980s Mahali Mzuri was well worth the long wait. I am eternally grateful to the staff for their generous hospitality and to our hawk eyed guides Levi and Jackson, for driving us throughout the conservancy so that we could watch prehistoric looking groups of giraffes, a pride of lions with maybe 10 playful chunky cubs, gorgeous elephants, cheetah, a leopard, hyena, zebra, gazelles & wildebeest… it was absolutely incredible. After your drives you can soak in luxury, meet Pam for a spa treatment, shop in the gift shop or devour delicious food with a view of resting hippos and animals peacefully grazing nearby. At turn down there is a hot water bottle placed on each bed, free laundry service and WiFi and the best smelling soaps and lotions. I felt so at home, 100% safe and will always carry this place in my heart. I am so grateful to Sir Richard Branson’s preservation of this wonderful savanna so that a woman from NYC with big dreams of going on safari could experience it, love it and learn from it. This place is magic.

Dear tracykE4186CU, We are incredibly humbled by your kind words and can’t thank you enough for sharing such a glowing review of your time at Mahali Mzuri. It really was our pleasure to host you and we thoroughly enjoyed creating magical moments throughout your stay, but even more so, we are overjoyed to hear how much everything exceeded your expectations. You were in excellent hands with Levi and Jackson on game drives, they really know the Mara like the back of their hand and always find the best spots to adventure – not that I need to tell you that, it sounds like you had some incredible sightings, not least with those cheeky, playful cubs! You’ll have to come back again and enjoy seeing them grow. It sounds like you struck the perfect balance between adventure and relaxation, and we’re delighted you made time to soak up the sounds and sights of camp, while enjoying delicious plates of food, moseying in our gift shop and visiting the wonderful Pam in our spa. We really do love what we do at Mahali Mzuri and take extreme pride in showcasing the many ways we care for and support our surroundings, and hearing how special and at home you felt with us has left us beaming with pride. Your comments honestly mean the world to us and on behalf of the whole team, thank you so much. We certainly hope to see you again very soon, please don’t leave it too long, we’ve got a hot water bottle at the ready! This is by far one of the best places I have ever stayed and am already looking to see when I can return! The staff treats you like family and ensure your stay is personalized to your needs. Laticia was our server during our stay and her welcoming nature, attentiveness, and going above and beyond truly made the meals special, especially since they were accompanied by Chef Joshua’s meals. The meals we have had here, especially the Kenyan feast you are able to request, were the best of our trip and plated spectacularly. The game drives were the highlight though. Newton was our guide/driver, all the animals he spotted and how close we were able to get made this experience memorable and one I hope to repeat soon. Though the game drives were why we were there, the valley that all the tents and areas face were filled with animals! During our mid-day break, we were able to see elephants frolic in the mud and hippos lounge in the water. When not looking at animals, we visited the spa and had some of the best massages of our lives. I had Nancy and am so excited that I was able to book a massage with her twice. Overall, I can’t say enough good things about this place other than everyone was amazing and went above and beyond and to have a place like this paired with the great animal viewing was something I never imagined I would experience, but so happy that I did.

Dear R1134XXallisonh, Thank you so much for your kind words, your 5* review has made our day. We love what we do at Mahali Mzuri and feel incredibly luck to live in such a spectacular place, surrounded by so much nature and wildlife and it is our absolute pleasure to share this with our guests. It doesn’t surprise me for a minute, to hear how special Leticia made you feel and that Chef Joshua wowed you with his culinary delights, but it does mean the world to them to receive such kind words, so thank you. The game drives in the Maasai Mara are truly spectacular, aren’t they? There’s nothing Newton doesn’t know about game drives and wildlife so you were certainly in good hands – seeing elephants and hippos in the mud and water is a sight like no other. We’re also pleased to hear that when not out adventuring, you managed to make time to visit our spa. Nancy’s excellent massages are the perfect way to unwind after an adventurous day in the Mara and she’s beaming to hear your lovely feedback. Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us during your time in the Maasai Mara, and we hope to welcome you back very soon – don’t leave it too long.
