Town Lodge is very well situated and very good value for money for any kind of business travel. Excellent staff, good rooms and you get free use of the gardens, cafes and facilities at the superb Fairview next door - which are also good for meetings and other work. Highly recommended.
The hotel as a whole is right, mainly the swimming pool area and the restaurants. But the rooms are mediocre. The shower was half clogged and furniture and design outdated. I appreciated the wifi quality!!!
Wowie! What an absolutely amazing place! Immediately upon our arrival, we were treated like royalty. Furthermore, our bedroom was clean and spacious, the food was exceptional, and the hotel grounds were phenomenal. If you enjoy lush gardens, relaxing by the pool, or eating delicious food in a beautiful and relaxing setting, this is the place for you!
Town Lodge is well managed with friendly, helpful staff. It adjoins the higher-end Fairview Hotel, and guests may avail themselves of the Fairview's pool and restaurants. Foreign travelers like Town Lodge's security--which may seem excessive; to enter, your luggage is x-rayed and you go through an airline-like scanning gate. AND you see armed guards upon your drive to the entrance. It turns out that the Israeli Embassy is next-door, which accounts for the heightened security. Be aware that the main building of Town Lodge does NOT have an lift/elevator, and rooms are not air-conditioned! Beds are hard and comforts are few. The desk chair is the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced. But the shower is roomy with amply hot water and pressure. A bountiful breakfast buffet is included on an arcade overlooking the lobby during the week... and on weekends next-door at one of the Fairview restaurants. Town Lodge is very well-priced for Nairobi, but if you can afford it, I highly recommend you upgrade to the Fairview!…
+ rooms are modern, clean, and got plenty of electrical outlets ..shower water pressure is awesome + Hotel general service was great .. staff are very helpful.. + hotel is considerate to people with allergies, food intolerances .. their breakfast had gluten free and lactose free options .. + hotel agreed to keep some luggage in their storage while we go on safari ! - internet can be improved .. kept disconnecting - service speed at the bar by the pool can be improved I’d definitely recommend this hotel
After a dozen stays at Town Lodge over many years, I can say with confidence that this is a well-managed establishment that will take good care of you. Staff are courteous and very helpful. Rooms are clean, well-lighted, quiet and easy to work in. Public areas are comfortable. Services generally exceed expectations. Through a gate and you are into the grounds at the Fairview Hotel, where you will find a relaxing pool bar and some of the better restaurants in Nairobi. Highly recommended. I'll be back.
I stayed at the Town Lodge for 7 nights and cannot recommend the hotel enough. The rooms are very clean and have all amenities you'd need, good wifi and a really good size. All staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome. The Town Lodge is attached to the Fairview hotel which means that you can use the Fairview's facilities including restaurants, outdoor pool etc. I highly recommend the Town Lodge for anyone staying in Nairobi.
I have some comments about the Town Lodge Hotel in Upper Hill, Nairobi, Kenya. I have been staying at this hotel for 5 years. It has many wonderful attributes. It offers an outstanding free breakfast. It is well located to other parts of the city. It shares beautiful garden spaces and several excellent restaurants with the Fairview Hotel. The staff are uniformly friendly, which is a characteristic of most Kenyans. The room rates are quite reasonable. The layout and furnishing of the rooms is comfortable. However, I have encountered one major problem. I have traveled extensively around the world and visited about 35 countries. The internet service at Travel Lodge is the worst that I have found anywhere. The internet connection drops every 15 minutes. I mean that literally. I lose the internet connection at least once every 15 minutes. When that happens, I must “troubleshoot” the problem – which means using software to reset my computer’s network adapter. Then, I must go to the Town Lodge home page and log in again. Then, I must close and reopen any applications I have been using that rely on the internet. Every time this has happened, for five years, I have called the hotel’s IT department. They generally are quite responsive. They have given me a series of unconvincing explanations for the problem. Sometimes, they have come to my room and puttered around with my computer in an effort to correct the problem. With no effect. Most recently, I received an explanation from an IT person that made sense. Each computer anywhere in the hotel receives its internet signal from a limited number of “hot spots”. If a computer is not located close enough to a hot spot it receives a weak signal or no signal at all. The solution is to place a larger number of hot spots emitting stronger signals throughout the hotel. I do not know the distribution of the hot spots around the hotel, but I can say that I have stayed in 5-6 rooms scattered throughout the hotel. And I have had the same problem in all of them. I should also mention that, when I go to my office at a local university, I enjoy a steady, strong, and uninterrupted internet signal. It is possible to enjoy an robust, reliable internet connection in Kenya. To sum up …. 1. The weak, intermittent internet signal at the Town Lodge makes any meaningful internet communication or research impossible. 2. The Town Lodge management knows about this problem. 3. The Town Lodge management has no intention of doing anything about the problem. By the way, I continue to stay at the Town Lodge because of the other benefits and because my sponsor has chosen it.…
Love the Town Lodge. Good sized rooms and you get to access all the restaurants and fitness center for the more upscale Fairview Hotel. One of the best values in town and some of the nicest staff you’ll find in Kenya. Would fix a few things to improve. Office chairs in rooms need a serious upgrade. Just not comfortable to sit in for more than an hour. At restaurants, mosquitos are a major nuisance. Can’t enjoy a meal without being devoured. While I love the garden areas around the pool and such, they need to spray to reduce the mosquitos. Would be also a big improvement if they could eliminate smoking throughout the hotel and restaurants.
Very good place and the staff is very friendly and helping too. options for breakfast are good too.. Loved my stay and will be back again. Tip.. Try to get a room on the lower floors since there is no lift.
