We consider ourselves experienced travellers but this was just one of the best experiences we have had. The service was super, staff very nice and professional, the garden was just lovely and well maintained. We had breakfast outside and the food was delicious. Every day! One of us had birthday and every staff helped to make this a birthday party we will remember. The rooms were charming and all had its own atmosphere. Being Europeans we are still very dependent on stable Wi-Fi when visiting Kenya, this was at times a little unreliable but that is the only slight potential for improvement we could find. We will recommend the place highly, and have already made plans for coming back.
I needed a place to relax for my birthday and Coldsprings did not disappoint. It is located in a relatively calm area, with a beautiful garden, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is not your regular large hotel, and I would therefore recommend this to anyone looking for some peace and quiet. The food was great and the ambience even greater. Joab, who received us upon entry, offered some commendable customer service from the beginning to the end of our stay. The only thing I can recommend is an improvement in terms of communication, and perhaps not being so rigid with checkout times. I wanted to leave at about 2pm, but that wasn't allowed "according to hotel policy" and no alternative had been offered to whoever booked the room for me. That was a bit disappointing. Email inquiries also take a while before being responded to.…
We needed a place to stay prior to a Safari starting in Nairobi. We had planned on staying at the Stanley (more about that in their post) but it was in a covid 'bubble' for an athletic event. We chose to stay in the lovely suburb of Karen so as to be safer from both Covid and also what we didn't know about Nai-robby. We got in really late (2am) and found them up and waiting to escort us to our rooms. VERY NICE! The rooms are clean and basic. A bit of updating could be done but very serviceable. The grounds are beautiful and maintained perfectly. We had our breakfast in the open patio every day with lovely meals and options. The service was GREAT! Nice people, very helpful and genuine. Recommend it highly and it was a great value as well.
Since 2015 to date,l have been Assigned Transport contract with coldsprings hotel,My work included Picking the Hotel Guests from Airport to hotel,Offering Hotel Guests,Transport to work, gamedrives and Attraction in karen and in Nairobi,All Guests were Happy with their stay at the hotel, the always appreciated the welcoming from Hotel Manager,Steve Ndong,Dancan and Anita, Dan and Anita always call me in time to pick the Guest, working with them was excellent,am still happy to work with them regardless of Covid,
During our trip through Kenya we stayed at many hotels in the upper price class. This was, by far, the place we felt most welcomed. We arrived in a struggling time (corona, lockdown etc.) but only here the staff had a smiley on there faces and really gave there best to make us happy. We had really interesting talks with our waiter Denis but also all the others were always most polite and carrying. This is a place we’re hospitality is written in capital letters. The building it self is located in beautiful Karen. Little outside the city center but therefore save and calm. It used to be the villa of the hotel owner, until he decided to build a small (maybe 15 bedroom) hotel in it. Some parts of the hotel are maybe a little worn down or could use a fresh painting, but every thing is clean and if there should be a reason for a complain they will find a way to make you happy anyway. The food is good and comes to a fair price. Don’t expect too fancy stuff but definitely ask for the home made juice or lemonade! All in all: when ever I will come back to Nairobi, I will come here. TIPP: Call the hotel directly and ask for the best price. They will make you a fair offer. …
Security is good as the compound is locked and patrolled by security staff throughout the day and night. Rooms are average, WiFi was slow, parking is minimal. We stayed for 2 nights, the pool is ok. The food takes an average of 2+hours to arrive per meal.
Stayed 2 nights on business. Definitely would not class this as a boutique hotel. The deco is old and outdated. Water pressure weak. Not enough plug points by the bed. The staff were kind however lacked hospitality knowledge, they had no idea of the menu, food took forever to come and was mediocre. Whilst eating one night, the one waiter sat on his phone near by laughing at his messages. Howling dogs (possibly locked up) were heard all night not sure if they were on the property or next door.
Confirmed booking made in June, for 21-22 Sept, 1 double and 3 singles. On arrival, no rooms ready and only 3 available? Can we share?? Despite asking repetedly for mgmt, only showed up as we decided to leave after 2,5 hrs. Very poor reception by front desk, very poor follow up. Avoid!
So the hotel driver picked us up at the airport and drove us to the hotel. It was down a lane so I was starting to have bad thoughts. Well, to our surprise, it turned out to be a charming boutique hotel. Only 9 rooms, so you do get spoiled. Special thank you to Joab. He was the ultimate host and we will never forget him. We had a wonderful time and it was all because of the fantastic staff. Thank you.
Stayed for one week in this lovely little hotel. I enjoyed the cosy atmosphere, the swim pool, the good breakfast. It is a small place, so enjoy the the decor. I stayed at room 9, and enjoyed the balcony to work. The wifi is good. Comfortable, good food and very friendly and accommodating staff. Thank you.
