I booked with the hotel directly (we just needed a couple of nights at the end of our holiday). It took at least 2 days to respond to any email. They forgot to collect us at the airport and my booking had not been relayed to the reception staff. Hence, the Executive Suite we had booked with an extra bed was not organised, so we were 'upgraded' to the 2-bed cottage. Positives - the beds were large and comfy, the shower was powerful and hot (especially in the 2nd bedroom ensuite). The included breakfast was plentiful. There's lots of dodgy bits, though. Shower taps were hanging loose from the wall, the bathroom door handles were not fixed on properly, some of the windows didn't close properly, there were huge cracks in the floor. Staff were friendly. Our room wasn't cleaned (the cleaner told me the next day it was because she didn't have a key). We won't be staying again.…
Pros: the front desk staff were really nice and quite helpful. When we were pretty disappointed with our cottage they immediately changed us to 2 bedrooms in the hotel, which were of a higher standard. Breakfast was fine. Location was quiet. Cons: our cottage was pretty bad. There was a hole in a bathroom window. Many of the windows didn’t lock. We couldn’t lock the main Door when we were there. There were many ants. The bathrooms were not very clean. It maybe was that we just had bad luck with the cottage as many other guests enjoyed their cottage experience. Who knows. Also I recommend you use Uber for all transportation. The driver for the place, although he is truly very nice, does cost slot so we only used him for back and forth to the airport.
A wonderful oasis in the Karen area away from the bustling Nairobi business district. Very cozy cottages with more than ok standards. Super service minded staff will look out for your needs. Joseph is the go to guy, serving both restaurant and pool bar. The only set back was overpriced transportation if you ask the hotel reception. Better to go Uber or booking.
Absolutely beautiful and quaint little hotel in Nairobi. Staff is very helpful and friendly, food is good, Pool is nice, rooms are big, clean and spacious. I recommend everyone to stay here if you have a few spare days in Nairobi.
The hotel is located in a nice area and the room while very basic was clean and good for the price. It is pretty close to the giraffe center and karen museum so a good place to stay if you are interested in visiting these places before leaving on a safari. The food and breakfast are also adequate but keep in mind the it will take an hour or so for your food to be prepared after you order. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that it is located a bit away from the main city and if you rely on the hotel staff to arrange a taxi they really overcharge you (I would recommend Uber instead). I made the mistake of not checking the estimated fare online before agreeing and ended up paying almost double of what I should have paid.
I visited Hotel Troy to book for a venue for my Niece’s Birthday Surprise Party. The Staff are wonderful and have knowledge of what it takes for a big party. They advised me about menus for different ages and grown ups. It was a one stop shop as they had also bouncing castles, swimming pool etc. Their grounds are also ideal for weddings. Some of our guests even slept there. It was a wonderful experience!
We were grateful to eventually got to a hotel where there was a proper shower and toilet, and where everything was clean. The grounds are massive and you can actually go and take a stroll on it. The pool is welcome in the summer heat. We enjoyed a nice breakfast of eggs, sausage, toast, pineapple and watermelon. They also had some cereals to choose from. The staff are super friendly and kind!!!! Hotel Troy is situated close to Giraffe Manor, Elephant Sanctuary and a big mall with the Carrefour supermark where we managed to get the right adaptor to use all over Kenya (including Uganda).
This is more like a small guesthouse unless you are booking the cabins. The location is very good for many of the surrounding attractions (Nairobi National Park, David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Giraffe Centre, Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens, Bomas of Kenya) as well as the International Airport and Train Station. A shopping centre is very close by for any banking, shopping, dining needs. The staff at Troy are friendly, very accommodating and helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean with comfortable beds and pillows and netting. Breakfast is fresh and has ample choices. They also serve excellent lunch and dinner a la carte with good selection to suit many tastes. There is a pool with lounge chairs and a brand new pool bar to enjoy. The hotel charges a bit too much for airport pick up. We used Uber 3 times for a fraction of the cost and that was an excellent deal. …
Very helpful staff & smiley. Very nice Garden with different kinds of birds & swimming pool. 24 hour restaurant & caffee, very near to gala mall. Very easy in & out, at any time you reach you enter your room.
Even with a late 10 pm check in after a long flight, check in was welcoming, pleasant, and easy. The economy room was very large and comfortable. The breakfast was very good and plentiful. The staff was very friendly and nice. The grounds are quiet and attractive. The Karen location is very close and convenient to the Galeria Mall, David Sheldricks Elephant Orphanage, the Giraffe Center,Karen Blixen House, and the Nairobi National Park. Stay safely and economically here so you can give more to the Elephant Orphanage and support their great work. The Troy Hotel is doing everything right! Thanks for a great and pleasant stay!
