The hotel staff were excellent. They even greeted me by my name on several occassions. Very peaceful and relaxing stay. It's a bit far out from central Nairobi, but that can't be helped as it sits on the edge of the National Park. Good food, ample breakfasts and a pleasant bar.
The Masai Lodge is a delightful place to stay. The beds very comfy, the lodgehouse offers a lovely terrace with a spectacular view (at least from house 3), a clean and very inviting pool and a lovely bar above a swooshing river. All the (service)personnel are very caring and helpful. There are lots of animal to be seen: baboons, cheeky monkeys, buffalos, hyrax and different birds. The foods quite good, the plates are very, very well filled. Plus they offer a very good cappucino. What some may find a bit annoying is the aircraft noise, which might happen here and then, since the airport is at the other side of the huge Nationalpark which the Lodge is directly attached to. But here comes the catch: if you decide to stay there, you have to include a long and costly ride from and to the lodge. The gravel road is very bumpy, and a ride from or to the airport - which takes about an hour - costs from 20 till 35 USD. Don't even start to try an Uber. They won't get u there, at least noch the cheap ones. Maybe the Uber X. Didn't try it though. So if you want to take day trips to or around Nairobi, get yourself a driver and clarify the conditions of your ride in advance to avoid nasty discussions. You can book a game drive from the resort to the National park, which starts at 6am. It costs 60 USD entry fee for the park plus 125 USD for the ride, no matter if one or two or more persons. Overall it's a very recommendable and lovely, well taken care of lodge.…
We stayed here one night. The staff were all really nice but the facilities were not as the pictures. The place is very shoddy, unmaintained and dated. The WiFi didn't work. No hot water in the rooms. The restaurant food was so bad we sent it back and didn't eat. Never again.
Hotel grounds, rooms and pool are absolutely stunning but that’s where it stops. The staff are rude and walk around clueless, order your lunch at breakfast because you won’t see if for hours after ordering. The ‘curry’ pizza is actually bread with chilli paste on and will blow your head off. Would also advise bringing a torch because the only working lights in the room are the bathroom lights and you’ll trip over your belongings on the way back to bed.
An amazing hotel in Mombasa. Easy transfers - despite the rough terrain. Excellent communication and support before and during the trip. Hotel room, facilities and outdoor area were perfect. Very quiet and clean. Every member of staff was incredibly helpful and made our stay very special, even allowing us a late check out due to our flights being at midnight. The food was amazing and so much choice. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
We were excited to stay at this hotel at the end of 2 weeks exploring Kenya before we traveled home. The best bits- reception staff were absolutely excellent and reception was really well managed and run. The hotel received some luggage from us and stored this before we arrived for a week to save us from having to take it all to Mombasa and accrue large luggage costs. On arrival reception were brilliant and Nelly needs a special mention. A man on reception also arranged some medication to be delivered to the hotel for us and this was really great. James, Masai guide was great and he took some of the group out on a walk to the glass factory which is worth a visit over the bridge. They loved it. The location and views are stunning. Grounds are amazing. Pool was absolutely freezing but it was winter in nairobi! View from the breakfast table was stunning. The rooms were ok, clean but could do with a refresh, especially the doors and locks. Ours were a long way to reception. Some advice on the shower before use would be good- there is a switch on the wall then only turn the water on a little to get it hot. The food was just ok, breakfast was better than dinner. Dinner menu was poor. But the service and preparation at dinner was so so slow even when it was just us in the restaurant. Some of the food was inedible, mostly parts of the meat that didn’t seem fresh. In comparison to everywhere else we stayed in the country the food quality was poor. There were plenty of staff so I don’t know what they were all doing. All in all the hotel tried but it feel short of the mark compared to all our other locations. (5 in total). It needs better management and an overhaul in food quality.…
I'm happy to drop this review to this beautiful lodge inside Nairobi National park. The place is amazing and beautiful, the team who received me, especially Zedrick who was on duty,he did not get tired in waiting because i arrived late at night. Thank you so much, you made my stay memorable. The service team, led by the supervisor, the place was very cold but he made sure that I get a heater. The Choma! was at it's best,I have never taken such sweet Choma kama hiyo thanks the production team at Masai Lodge I really enjoyed the meals. I will definitely come back. Asanti sana.
I had the most amazing 11 night stay here, remote working but had the chance to enjoy the amazing wildlife that the lodge has to offer. I saw Eland and lions at night walking across the lawn twice at dinner! An incredible experience. Big shout outs go to everyone who works there, in particular Yosbat, Nillie, Antholenas, Kevo and Benson. But the biggest shout out of all goes to Wilson! He is the masai lodge guide and he has incredible knowledge of the animals and made my stay 5*. He took me to the glass factory which I topped him for, but he also took me on free walks every morning around the lodge which broke up my work day. He was amazing company, Wilson honestly made my holiday - Thank you so much!
My time at Masai Lodge has been outstanding. I’ve learned a lot about the Masai culture and the staff have been wonderful in every way. Be prepared for a bumpy ride to the hotel, which is not close to the airport, however totally worth it! There are beautiful views from every room and the restaurant is delicious. There’s so many places to relax and enjoy all the sites of Nairobi National Park. James is an excellent tour guide, Adams is a great server, and Christine was very helpful at the desk. Didn’t meet one unpleasant staff member. I will definitely visit again.
Overall cannot fault the view or ambience. It is great. Service leaves a lot to be desired. Receptions staff not wearing masks, slow service at breakfast, incorrect information given re; activities. Staff not too keen on finding solutions to issues. If this could improve I would stay again. If not, I’d stay somewhere else.
