We arrived like at 12 pm, and they were waiting for us at recpetion with a juice, the bed and linens super confortable and the Room was clean and spacious. After coming from a long trip, it´s relaxing having a good bed. Breakfast is healthy and delicous, you must try this wonderful spot!
The Receptionists and their care of guests warrant 5 stars any day. However... the ambience of the place is depressing and dull. The decor—although in very good condition—uses dull and dark colours and the lighting is very muted as well. The garden is like any average Karen-suburban garden which doesn't employ a gardener on a regular basis. Apart from in front of the house where they are a few older trees shading a seating area, the rest of the garden is totally uninteresting with no flowering plants or shrubs at all or any thought to its design. The swimming pool is small, kept nice and clean but is more of a plunge pool that a swimming pool. Bedrooms are roomy with a door opening on to a narrow verandah but unfortunately the views they look on to are some unkempt back gardens of the neighbouring properties. The food was fresh and well cooked but unexciting. Often food was not piping hot when delivered to the table and the same applied to the hot water & milk for tea and coffee. A bit of a disappointment after the good reviews we had read...but the receptionists—great, every concern dealt with efficiently and in a friendly way.…
Our family of 5 stayed at the Margarita House for one night before setting off on safari. Charlotte immediately greeted us and warmly welcomed us into the hotel. Our room was clean and well equipped for our family. The kids loved the play equipment offered and we enjoyed lounging outside while watching them. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. Elizabeth, the owner, also greeted us and welcomed us to our stay. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to friends/family in the future.
My friend and I stayed one night on route to our next destination and found that we were dying to stay longer. From the moment you arrive the hospitality is lovely and the staff are so kind. Our room was perfectly equipped and bed extremely comfy! We chose a room service breakfast which was delicious and beautifully served. We would highly highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in this area!
Has great staff and a great place. We enjoyed the meals. well hidden from the noise and city buzz. It located near malls and great sceneries. it was unfortunate during our stay they were renovating the swimming pool.
I stayed at this hotel for a week for work, and every day I felt like I was coming home. Charlotte, Dennis and Gladys are so welcoming and friendly, and go out of their way to make sure their guests have a pleasant stay. The hotel is in a nice, quiet location, but easy to get around and very secure. It is easy to walk around the area, or the hotel is helpful in arranging a driver. The grounds are well-kept and a very nice place to relax, and the hotel is happy to accommodate your needs. I would highly recommend!
We stayed in Margarita house a total of seven nights as we went through Nairobi to safaris etc and came to think of it as coming home each time. From our first day the wonderful staff, Gladys and Charlotte on the reception and Dennis bringing us all sorts of delicious food, gave us such a warm welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, from breakfast at midday on our first day to coffee before 6 on departure, and all with easy smiles and lots of laughs. The food was delicious, varied and beautifully presented, the rooms spacious and clean, the lounge comfy, the outside seating under the trees lovely, there was even a swimming pool to enjoy and the quiet surroundings were so restful. We really hope to come again.
We stayed three nights at this small hotel with a group of friends. The hotel is in a great location, is very secure and the staff are wonderful! The hotel provided a van to pick us up at the airport and also provided our transportation for a day excursion. The hotel is close to Giraffe Centre, the Karen Blixen Museum, Kazuri Beads, Sheldrick Wildlife Center, etc. Special thank you to Charlotte, Dennis and Stephen who were so incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome, and to Brenda who cleaned our room every day. All of the staff at the Margarita House were wonderful. The rooms are very clean. Beds are comfortable and have mosquito nets. In room safe and free wifi was also available. The property is fenced and there are security cameras and a guard at the locked entrance gate. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a quiet, comfortable hotel away from the busy downtown area. …
The staff are so friendly and accommodating...Charlotte, Dennis, Gladys. We had a late evening check-in, a 5:30 am request for breakfast, last minute dinner request, and all were dealt with in such a friendly manner. The rooms and grounds are spotless. The meals were delicious. Location is great. The driver for the hotel, Stephen, was great...spent a day touring the local attractions and learning Swahili. We would definitely stay here again
My husband and I wanted a safe, comfortable and convenient hotel that was close to places we wanted to visit. As we had a 3-night stay it was important to choose wisely so we could get over jetlag while acclimatizing to life in Africa – and the Margarita House in Karen was the perfect choice for us. Our room was large, airy, clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff were unfailingly helpful, friendly and professional. The hotel and landscaped gardens are nicely designed and decorated, eating breakfast in the leafy front area was a lovely setting. This was also a nice area to stretch our legs and get some fresh air in the evening. The gated entrance and 24-hour security meant that security was never a concern. Although the hotel is somewhat tucked away we found it was easy to head out on foot during the day. For the most part we used taxis to reach attractions and shops in the general area, and of course always used taxis after dark. Special mention to driver Stephen Kilonzo – he provided our transfer from the airport, and we also hired him for various outings during our 3-day stay. Stephen is knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and accommodating – and played a big part in giving us such a positive first impression of Kenya. Special mention also to front desk staff Charlotte and Gladys, and other support staff - and also to manager Joel along with owner Elizabeth, who made sure to greet us during our stay. Professional and personable staff with wonderfully cheerful personalities – they provided a warm welcome and continued stellar service during our stay. One suggestion – while the room we had was large and comfortable, it unfortunately had a slightly cold and sterile feel. The lights gave off a cool (not warm) glow and the overall lighting was a bit dim – when combined with dark grey and white walls (unlike the warm reds shown in some online photos) the general effect was not overly inviting. Despite the wonderful artwork the concrete hotel hallways are similarly a bit cool and dim, and not soundproofed. This is inconsistent with the overall feel created by the hotel and staff which is very warm and inviting! While we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to fellow travellers we would nonetheless strongly urge the hotel management to make a few straightforward improvements in brighter lighting and painting, in order that the hotel and rooms are as warm and welcoming as they should be.…
