Due to the proximity to my office in Nairobi I always stay at Crown Plaza each time I am in Nairobi for official business. Stayed there again from the 15th to the 20th December, 2019. I was impressed by one cleaner on 17th december who was so creative. The elevator to the left was not working well during this week of my last stay as it was not responding to the insertion of the room cards / keys. so each time you want to go up, the left elevator would not work forcing the other lift not to come down. The cleaner then instructed the lift that was not working properly by instructing it to go to the lower basement and this triggered the other lift to come and then take us up. Very creative.

A reasonable large hotel close to the airport that manages to have a homely feel .😊✨🦒

With a selection of rooms to suit all tastes ,I was pleased to note that some rooms have balconies, and (a Personal preference) bath tubs .

From the security staff and concierge to the reception team and restaurant staff ,they all have heartwarming welcoming smiles which indeed makes this hotel stand out from others .

Our room ..suite was immaculately cleaned to a high standard and daily refresh of the rooms occurred without the need to request it .

Spacious with large windows to enhance natural light ,exceptionally comfortable beds and soft comfortable pillows and fabulous sound proofing ensured we achieved great sleep quality .

Delightful cuisine in the restaurant with ultra charming staff made for a splendid mini break !
The a la carte menu and meal presentations would be as you would find in any fine dining institution.

A special thanks to the restaurant team led by Roy ,Judith for her heartwarming smiles every morning showing interest in my daughters intern ventures ,Edna for her charming customer service ,Kevin for ensuring that your buffet selection choices were in tip top condition ,the fabulous personable chef Chris who always smiled and enjoyed engaging with us each morning ,Samson for his humour too
Not forgetting Mediabeatrix for her genuine kindness !

An exceptional restaurant team in the kitchen 9 buffet dining area 😊✨🍃

Reception team

I would like to add my thanks to Maureen for her pre booking communications via email ,always spontaneous and caring trying to ensure our requirements were met prior to our arrival .

Milton for alway s being so welcoming and supportive .

Concierge and Security Team .
The concierge team particularly Ester and her kind colleagues who ensure your collected with ease from the airport via the complimentary airport shuttle .
Focused on ensuring that the hotel remains safe and secure the security team from the gate to the exterior and interior of the hotel were always personable friendly and importantly professional .

General Manager Oliver .

The charming manager Oliver for appreciating and acknowledging my elite platinum status and rectifying a complicated administrative error with out any undue fuss .
Oliver was friendly smiling and I noticed ,perceptively managed a complicated situation of having over 60 guests emerge after 22:00 hours from a cancelled flight .
Despite the workload being intense for himself and his team ,I was pleasantly surprised that he was still able to support me with my query in the middle of this challenge situation that was handled seemlessly !

Oliver is indeed a great asset to the Crown Plaza brand and a role model,of how other managers in his position should aspire to be like .

A great hotel with excellent communication channels ,warm genuine welcomes and lovely features that would delight any discerning traveller .

Considering we were only stopping the night before catching a flight out of Nairobi the next morning we were pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel had covered our bed with fresh rose petals, with a bunch of fresh roses in the room and the bathroom. We were taken aback by this gestures and as it was not expected. The hotel itself was lovely, the facilities were brilliant with a roof top pool (which we would have used if our flight had not been late arriving to Nairobi) and the food was delicious. I would like to acknowledge Leah who served us at the restaurant, she was brilliant, unfortunately we had no cash to leave her a tip otherwise we would have.

Overall the hotel was great and up to date. The executive lounge was very nice and not crowded, the breakfast there was good and a large variety to select from. Lunch buffet was pretty good, but 2 buffets and a beer and wine was $70 USD... a bit overpriced for lunch. The restaurant on the second floor cost the two of us about $110 USD, but was well worth it. The best meal I ate in my time in Nairobi!

Had a minor issue at checkout, that I'm glad I caught. I had paid for the room in points, but had they charged something like $60/day for the something. I was told it was the "room charge". Once I told him I paid for the room in points he took it off with no issue.
Had it not been for the sketchy shuttle issue, I would have given the hotel 5 stars.

We arrived in the morning and had no real plans for the day. The concierge introduced himself and recommended a few things (some of which were already on our radar like the elephant orphanage, giraffe center, etc.). He said they had a shuttle service with a professional driver and the first hour was complimentary and then $4 per hour after that. We thought that sounded great, so we let him go ahead and make the arrangements. I thought this was a great perk of the hotel. Typically I see free shuttle service within a certain area, but this appeared to be where ever and you were charged for the drivers time.
When we got in the car he explained the first hour complimentary and $4/hour after that and told us it would be about 3 hours. So I said "$8 total?" and he said yes, so we said no problem. Skip to the drop off, he hand writes a bill for $100 USD. He now says the $8 was just the wait time and apparently it was $92 for the ride. At no time did the concierge or driver say the number "92" or "100", so this was misleading at the least. I knew Uber would have been way cheaper (we even had another driver we used that took us back to the orphanage and waited for a fraction of the cost) but tried I to justify a private car for 3 hours for $92.
I sucked it up and said we'll charge it to the room. That should have been the last of it but he insisted on cash, and that's when everything got sketchy and I really felt like we got taken advantage of. There was also NEVER any mention of CASH ONLY. I figured since we were in a Crowne Plaza car, the Crowne Plaza could have added the fee to the room bill, but not the case. I had to go up to our room and get $100 cash to pay the driver.
I could have dealt with the cost of the car and chalked it up to miscommunication, but being misled by two separate people (presumably both employed by the hotel) and then being required to pay cash was something I definitely didn't expect from an international hotel chain.
Overall good hotel, but be wary of the shuttle service (also see other reviews on the shuttle).

We only stayed for one night on our arrival to Nairobi. It has a perfect location if you are not planning to visit the City Center for a couple of days (it's inside the airport compound), and since we were heading to Amboseli, we avoided the huge traffic chaos going on the opposite direction.

In addition to this, the staff was wonderful, very polite and attentive. Cleanness was also impeccable. Will definitely come back in my next visit to Nairobi.

To have in mind: make sure to arrive to Nairobi after check-in time to avoid the USD50 fee for an early check in (I guess IHG members and so on might have those fees waived if there's availability, so this is only for the non-members).

Stayed here 2 nights/ 2 rooms on the executive floor - sadly the lounge was not officially open. Breakfast served in main restaurant and appetizers only for 1 hr (1830-1930) with a plate of preselected ginger foods supplied upon order.Great gym/ lap pool - not really an outdoor lounge area. Health club membership sold to locals.
Food in restaurant tasteful but overpriced, service slow. Nice lounge and bar area and business center. AC in our room did not work but overall a good hotel.

Well, we thought we were staying at the Sheraton but turns out we didnt have a reservation and they were sold out so we ended up at the Crowne Plaza. What a blessing. They picked us up and were so welcoming and kind. We checked in quickly but lunch was only being served for another 15 minutes and we were hungry and Lazarus recognized this and took our bags to out rooms so we could get lunch, thank you Lazarus for being so helpful! The front desk, housekeeping, room service and Lazarus have been fantastic. You turned a stressful situation into a very pleasant experience.

This will be my first bad review for IHG.
Not for elite members, all services are closed, no benefits offered or compensated, tried customer service still nothing, no lounge, no fitness centre and no restaurant as well. Have to ask my room amenities every day.
Only good thing in the hotel is IHG clean promise, breakfast was good but the bread roll was stale and croissant was not fresh. Limited menu on restaurants and same was offered in room service. The duty manager kept saying the fitness centre and lounge will be available next day, but never available, finally gave up and went to Marriott chain who was offering better service to their customers

Immaculately clean.
Wonderful, friendly, attentive staff.
Rooms were impeccable.
Free bottles water plus tea, coffee, hot chocolate, shower gel, body lotion and shampoo.
Bed was very big!
Wasn't given at inter joining room (booked as a family of 4) Children aged 9 & 11. Were given 2 rooms. Each has a very large bed (super king) and a single bed. Instead of splitting us up we chose to stay in 1 room. 1 child in single bed and the younger one in the large bed with my husband and I. Worked well.
Bathroom was good - shower and full size bath.
Lots of clothes hanging space and safe available.
We only ate breakfast here as we went out for meals but it was delicious and the staff were brilliant
Ideal central location for exploring Nairobi.
Staff very friendly with the children.

If you are on a business trip to Nairobi ... I suggest you without a doubt the Crown Plaza Upper Hill.

I guarantee you that the kindness and professionalism of the entire staff but also of the Managers always ready to find a solution to any request, will leave you very, very satisfied.

The business centre is very efficient, there is a very private area at the lobby which is very good
In the evening you can enjoy the Silva restaurant with Fine dining or drinks at the lounge.

I would highly recommend it
