Great place to stay, warm friendly owners and staff. Meals are excellent, wisely from a simple but tasty menu, Rooms basic but clean and everything you need is there. The additional experience which raises this above just a hotel is the coming and going of other travellers and the sharing of their stories along with the wonderful hospitality and company... More

Dear Allen, Thank you for your great review here on TripAdvisor. It was a excellent couple of days and nights here at Karen Camp & Hotel. We really enjoyed your company with your good self and your mates and the very many stories of your adventures of independently overlanding on 'motorbikes'. I camped here for 4 nights, but there are also rooms available. Just perfect for the independently minded traveller, great bar popular with both travellers and locals, food is good pub food, with some Australian delicacies...anyone for "pie floaters"? Clean, safe facilities in a quiet area but also within walking distance of the Purdy Arms, another well known Karen watering... More

We stayed at Karen Camp for 3 enjoyable nights in room 1in October. Brendan &Val are great hosts. They kindly organised a taxi transfer on our arrival which made our foray into Nairobi late at night seamless-always a good start! They along with their staff have created a welcoming, homely travellers atmosphere. Karen Camp is clean, affordable, food is delicious,... More

Amazing 36 hours at Karen camp with the nicest bunch of people I've met in a very long time. Such a warm hospitable welcome to Kenya. And Ireland beat NZ for the first time in 111 years. Look forward to returning!

I miss the sound of the river as I sleep. Such a calm and peaceful feeling. Animals are visible from the lawn so you can just pull up a chair get a drink from the bar and watch the show. We saw many hippos, giraffes smaller animals and crocodiles. So many dick dicks running around the pool and our tent too.... More

Dear Reviewer Great compliments, but we do think you are talking about Karen Blixen Camp in the Masai Mara, and indeed it is a beautiful camp. My wife and I have enjoyed safaris there ourselves. It would be unfair to them and yourself for us to benefit from your excellent review. We do not mind if you wish to delete... More

I have stayed at Karen Camp many times over the years during my stop-over travels in Nairobi. The rooms are offered at a wallet friendly price and are comfortable. As always the bar has a great atmosphere mixing travelers and ex-pats alike. The food here is always a firm favorite, well priced and large portions. For budget accommodation you can't... More

You will find this to be a good campsite, and a good place to eat, hang out, and have a drink. It will usually have several parties of overlanders in camp at any given time. The snake exhibit is very good if you like that sort of thing. This is a good place to stop over, or pitch your tent,... More
