Great hotel close to The Valley of The Kings,Temple of Hatshepsut, Medinet Habu, Deir el Medina and a host of other west bank sights Clean, large air conditioned en suite rooms. Super friendly manager who cooked amazing local food [vegi for my wife} and catered for all our needs, even walked around to the bus stop with us as it was the easiest way to show us where it was. Tea and cold drinks just seem to appear when we needed them especially after a hard day at the sights. Great breakfast. Hotel owner organised a day tour with a private driver prior to our visit, suggesting an order to visit the sights to avoid the crowds and greeting us back on our arrival. Comfortable outside seating area. Good priced accommodation. Highly recommended.

Our group stayed here for a week, I chose to spend 2 days on my own resting at this hotel. It was truly a paradise. Most delightful gardens & when I took my short afternoon rest by the garden, sparrows & other birds chirped merrily away - a true delight to the ears. The staff could not do enough for us. Food was excellent. I cant wait to return here. It was lovely staying on the West Bank side of the Nile - away from the hurly burly of the main part of Luxor. So much to see & do in Luxor itself though. And may I recommend the LUXOR Stables, well run, horses well looked after (Brooke Hospital visit the horses @ Monday to check them all out & all horses regularly wormed @ 4 months. I was very impressed.

Wonderful place away from the city of Luxor in a local village. Incredible views from the roof top. Lush garden area, pool. Ashraf and his staff are friendly, helpful, welcoming. Safe area to walk in the village. Our group stayed there 6 nights and I would have been happy to be there longer. I want to go back to this place.

After 2011 and 2012 and 2013 and 2014 we were in Desert Paradise Lodge again! After 2 years break – unfortunately because of health reasons (knee operations!), it was simply great and fantastic to be back! Ashraf, Mansour, Raghab, Khodary – simply jumping in our neck; very very warm welcome! Our aim was still the same: not to be at home in the holiday season, but wanted to go somewhere there is warmer and more sunny than in Hungary, and we did not want any Christmas gala dinner and/or New Year’s eve party and so. In DPL no supplement to pay for Christmas and/or New Year days. This time we spent more than 2 weeks, 17 nights there and also a friend of mine came with us. If you have read my comments from 2011 and 2012 and 2013 and 2014, you know a lot! Please, scroll down, look back, it would be stupid to repeat myself. I must add, the plants they have started to plant in the garden, a lot of green is now growing really huge in the garden, trees are quite big now and beautiful flowers blooming this year too! If one goes there in winter, take in consideration, we are in the desert, so temperature difference can be big between day and night! This year we had warm December – on 23rd Dec 2017, 30 degrees in shadow!, no wind at all, only light breeze some days. By the end of the year 2017 „cold” wind came, “only” 23-25 degrees; perfect for visiting the touristic sites. End December/early January we had some chilly nights, but no problem; we got an electric heater, so no freezing nights for us. Being a “returning guest” is a very nice, comfortable and a very privileged situation: we were more friends than customers and we felt like returning home! We got our “usual” room 9 with view to Theban mountain. Tourism slowly increasing, even though overnighting tourists are still very few, though we met a couple from Singapore and a family from Belgium. The food was STILL great, we did no go to eat anywhere else, the room was cleaned every day, and the view to the Theba mountain is still fantastic! I promised and promise here, again-and-again, at this place too, that I will and do recommend this place to all, who wish to have individual ‘treatment’, wish to stay in a cozy atmosphere and want to avoid mass-tourism! New archeological sites are opening to the public, despite all difficulties. Now about 25 noble tombs are to visit and also new tombs opened up in Deir el Medina. NEW Now photo tickets are available in the tombs as well, not only the museum(s). King’s Valley, Queen’s Valley, Noble Tombs, Deir el Medina photo tickets are 300 LE, museum is 50 LE. Also video ticket is available for the museums, also 300 LE. Nefertari tomb and Seti I. tomb is open, expensive, 1000 LE for entrance ticket (each), but a MUST, these tombs are worth every price. We hope to be back every Christmas in the future! Insallah…

It's the second and last night of our stay here at Ashraf's gem of a property. It may be 17 years old but it hardly looks its age- he has done an amazing job of keeping the rooms and the public areas pristine. My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised by the air of calm and serenity that envelopes this guesthouse once we entered. It feels like Shangri-La where one comes to, to recuperate and recharge from a hectic week of activities. We were weary from a long day of visiting ancient tombs and temples and jostling with large groups of visitors at the various locations so coming to a place like this was instantaneously refreshing. Ashraf welcomed us warmly and made sure to let us know that he was there to help if we ever needed anything. He took us to the ATM and saw to it that we always got whatever we needed to make our stay comfortable. Ashraf is the consummate host who sat and chatted with us every day because he wanted us to be comfortable as his guests and as he puts it, he is happy when guests are happy and smiling. We met some return guests who have been coming back to the comfort of a home away from home and another who has been here for a month- testimony of Ashraf's commitment to service excellence. His staff, Ayab is very attentive and makes the most delicious meals and always served them on time. When we needed to leave really early this morning for our tour , he had breakfast ready for us and it was such a great start to the day. We're really happy to have found this treasure in the desert. Staying here was a far superior experience than the three-night stay on a 5 star cruise ship on the Nile we had been on, prior to our stay here.

We stayed for three nights in late January/early February and were absolutely delighted by this little jewel of a hotel. We were the only guests at that time and enjoyed amazing personalized service. So sad that the majority of travellers decide to stay in the soulless upmarket places on the East Bank, as Desert Paradise really lives up to its name and offers a magnificent, safe & authentic good value alternative for the independent traveller. Our room was very spacious, spotlessly clean and offered a separate living space fitted with a large fridge. The landscaped gardens and outside seating areas are just beautiful. The pool offers the perfect opportunity to relax with a beer after a hard day of exploration. Thanks to the rooftop terraces you can enjoy contrasting views of the lush Nile valley and the arid hills to the West, magic for sunrise and sunset. Best of all are the people: The owner Ashraf and his wife were very professional and organized all airport transfers. He even took us shopping in his private car, when my wife asked for a juice they didn’t have in stock. Ragab the cook/caretaker is the sweetest hotel employee I ever encountered during all my travels. His Spanish Omelette provided a perfect start in the day. He always asked us in the morning what we would like for dinner and did the shopping accordingly. His Tajine is truly memorable and he even prepared coffee for us when we had to leave at 4 a.m. While delicious and plentiful, food is a bit more pricy than the Egyptian standard, but you always have the option to ask Ahmed the driver to take you elsewhere. No pressure from the staff. Last (but not least) we have to mention Kothary, our guide. He was there for the airport pick-up and even our departure transfer at an ungodly hour. We visited all the major sites with him. The East bank using public transport only and the West bank with Ahmed during our second day. He did a great job, keeping away the hustlers, not giving too detailed explanations and leaving us plenty of free time to discover the temples/tombs by ourselves. Thanks again mate!

Was not sure what we were getting into when my brother and I decided to give this bed-and-breakfast type place a try, but definitely exceeded expectations! Great food & hospitality from Ashraf & co. Highlights are the b&w photos hung up in the dining area, and poolside lounging in the evenings. Would highly recommend! :)

Owner/operator Ashraf and the entire Desert Paradise Lodge staff gave us a warm, hospitable experience that was extraordinarily delightful. The hotel is pleasantly rustic and clean, Ragab's Egyptian cooking is excellent, and Khodary is a warm, generous tour guide. We loved our stay at the Desert Paradise Lodge, and highly recommend the bed & breakfast to anyone looking for an intimate, warm stay in Luxor.

Ashraf, the owner, and his staff are some of the most hospitable people I have encountered. The lodge was clean, charming, quiet, and provided beautiful views of the West Bank. Beyond the continental breakfasts we also chose and enjoyed the traditional Egyptian lunches and dinners there as well. The location is ideal for Luxor: relaxing and quite close a drive to Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut's temple, Howard Carter House, and other West Bank sites. The east bank (for Temple of Karnak and Temple of Luxor) was a relaxing ride with our driver. The lodge made our planning for Luxor effortless: Whether you have an itinerary in mind or not, Ashraf can make it happen or help you develop a plan when you get there (or, if you perhaps prefer to relax at the hotel for the day, he is fine with that too!). He arranged an airport driver, a driver for our two days of exploring Luxor, an a guide for accompanying us to the site visits. Our guide, Muhammad, was excellent and made each site visit explanation very engaging, while giving us pockets of time for ourselves to explore each site on our own as well. Be sure to ask Ashraf for a felucca ride on the Nile at sunset- it was lovely and memorable! All prices were very reasonable. One thing- be sure to bring toiletries as they provide one bar of soap. Stay with Desert Paradise Lodge- you won't regret it!
