Was there for business and had the fortune of staying at the Westin Josun Hotel. The hotel has everything you would need - great service by staff, good restaurants with delicious food, fully equipped with amenities, and a lounge on the top floor. One tip for those with options to do breakfast at the lounge or at level LL for the buffet, always go for the latter. The variety of selection is immense and you won’t regret it. Location is superb overall - in the business district and a 3 min walk away from Myongdong and Lotte Mall. Moreover, there are multiple subway station entrances situate around the hotel. I would certainly come back to stay here again. Suite wasn’t available and seems like will be hard to get for those with Elite Platinum or above as a Marriott Bonvoy member. Good to keep in mind if this matters to you.…
This is the 2nd time staying at the Josun and love this hotel. First, the hotel staff is top notch. English is spoken well throughout the hotel, from bellhops to the reservation staff. Room: Large, super clean, very quiet. We had 2 queen size beds. Lots of english language stations on the tv. Bathroom was large. The shower was a tub shower so you had to step into tub to take shower. Water pressure was great! Towels great! Room Service: Our last night we arrived home late like 9:30pm all the restaurants were closed so we ordered room service. The food was outstanding. It was delivered on a large table draped in a white table cloth with nice china dishes. They rolled the table into the room and we enjoyed a delicious meal. Pool: The pool is beautiful - although we did not get a chance to use it this time because we were so busy I did use it a few years ago when I stayed here and it was very relaxing. I ordered lunch poolside from room service and they brought it up - which was very nice! coffee: so many great coffee shops and bakeries close by. From the lower level exit walk across the street, turn right and walk to end of block (very short) then turn left and about 4 stores in is a french bakery that has delicious breads! Down further are 2 more coffee shops. If you exit at lower level and turn left there is a Starbucks and 2 other coffee shops..Also next door is Lotte Mall. We never made it there bc we were so busy. The one day we could have gone was a holiday and mall was closed. Best feature: Bellhops were so helpful! The level of service was outstanding. We arrived home from shopping with several large packages and the bellhop took the items from the cab and said he would deliver them to our room. It was so fast - as they take a separate elevator- that our packages arrived at our room the same time we did! The rooms were super clean. We were there summer 2022, when covid was still a thing and everyone in the country was still masked so cleanliness was extra important. Airport Bus: Since covid started many of the hotel airport bus routes have been cancelled. Fortunately the Westin Chosun route was not cancelled! The airport bus drives right up to the hotel entrance. You buy tickets at the hotel desk. The bus is a luxury bus with wide seats. Your luggage is stored in the bus carriage. It drops you at your terminal. It could not be easier. I would stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Seoul.…
Great location. Best housekeeping department and housekeepers possible. Good English-speaking front desk and concierge. Great bathroom with a Japanese-style toilet. Good for a short stay. If, however, you stay longer there are small irritating things that start bothering you. Hot water is not always available. You may have to plan for a 10-15 minute wait running the tap. The mattress is well-used and has a firm supportive spot in the middle but has gone soft on the sides. The pillows are very soft. The comforter has a bed sheet wrapped around it. Maybe this is a Korean traditional way? During our stay, there were very loud political demonstrations in the vicinity of the hotel that start in the morning and lasted till 8 p.m. and can be heard quite loudly inside the room. Very little sound insulation in the room from the windows and room/bathroom walls. Then there was the very strong fried food smell nearly every single time we opened the window to air the room despite being on a high executive floor. There was a good selection of food at the executive lounge. The coffee quality was abysmal! Some staff was more deferential when giving service to locals and Asians as compared to Westerners. The hotel lobby was hard to navigate at times as it was packed with hundreds of men coming from the hotel meeting hall facilities, all clad in black congregating in the hotel lobby and hotel exit. Hotel security was useless in providing a courteous environment to paying hotel guests. Many other small things... You will get better treatment and respect if you dress nicely for the hotel staff. :)…
I was expecting a better customer service/experience at this historic five-star hotel. During my stay (Nov 11, 2022) I was not able to utilize the executive lounge due to capacity control. A few encounters with the hotel staff at the lobby didn’t seem like they cared much about their guests and felt that they were trying to avoid providing help/answers to my simple questions. Maybe they were short-staffed at the time of my stay so I’ll just leave it at that. My room was clean, quiet and spacious however the bathroom entry design needs to be reconsidered or redesigned in order to avoid being seriously injured. I almost fell a few times due to the sloped entry using slippery marble/stone (see annotated pic). It gets really slippery when there’s a trace of water in the entry which can’t be avoided. Location is good if you are there for shopping and looking for local food options. I didn’t see much nightlife around the area. I think it was due to Covid related business hour restrictions in force at the time of my visit. Consider avoiding this hotel if you know of any demonstrations planned around the City Hall during your stay. I had hard-time getting back to the airport since all taxi and (airport) bus services were suspended all day. I had a hard-time getting to the airport in the heavy rain with my luggage trying to find a subway station since it was the only mode of transportation to the airport at the time. Lastly, no one at the hotel was able to direct me to the path that can get me to the nearest subway station without getting soaked wet. All of the staff were too busy dealing with their wedding guests instead. …
I am a male, a Marriott Platinum member and I stayed in the hotel for 5 days, 28 Dec to 2 Jan,, room 1202. Prior to my arrival, I wrote to inform the hotel that the stay is for celebration of my wedding anniversary and they replied that they will provide some snacks amenities for the event. Upon my arrival and seeing that my partner is a male, the male staff check-in staff looked at us with dismay. At that point in time, I thought it was my own sensitivity. After I got into the room, though my 'not disturb' button was on, I requested via the mobile app chat for the snack amenities to be served. There was no respond for 1 hour 30 mins and I made the request a second time. After a few minutes, a staff came knocking on my door. He did not look happy and handed me (with one hand) a packet of palm size cookies and walk off!. The next day, I then wrote to Marriott to raise my feedback that I am well aware of how 5-stars hotel show appreciation towards their guest for staying with them on special occasions. I highlighted that In this specific situation, it is not the snack that matters. However, despite Westin being a 5-stars hotel and I being a Marriott Platinum member, the packet of cookies reflects how the hotel view their platinum members, in particular, LGBTQ guest! The following day, I receive a letter from the hotel expressing their apology and saying they could not deliver the amenities because my room's 'no disturb button' was on! They then offer to provide the wine and amenities. I then responded with a subsequent email asking if why did they give the excuse that it was due to the 'not disturb button' when they have actually delivered a packet of palm size cookies?…
First of all, service people I met were top notch and by no means, this review represents them; but rather this is for the management of the property. 1) Expect no empathy around hotel rules, such as an early check-in, regardless of your Marriott status (side note: I am a gold member) - Even after multiple requests to 'let us know' when room is ready given we just got off of 12 hour flight (please call us, or text us), no such effort is made - in fact, we were told, just come back at 2pm, we 'don't have such system.' In terms of our effort on the other hand to let them know this request in advance, I requested via Marriott App the day before as well. 2) You may get sanitary violation - BTW, after the fact, I checked the reviews and I wasn't the only one! We crashed given we just flew 12 hours. During the sleep, we kept smelling sharp stench. Despite dramamine still in our system, stench finally woke us up at around 5,6am. It took no time for us to find where it came from; right from our duvet. It had brown and yellow, slightly crusty soil and when I put my nose close to it, the stench was of feces and urination. Imagine rubbing that against your face unknowingly and knowing that after the fact. This will haunt us for the rest of our lives and will make us check duvet every time we check in to any hotel from now on. We are not the only guest who experienced similar violation at this property - look no further than searching in google map reviews. This is not an isolated case - this was a known case and has happened before. As everyone is trying to recover from Covid, sanitation should be a top of concern for guests - but most importantly for inn-keepers. The most fundamental rights is a safe and clean environment. No excuses should ever be given for repeated violation of this magnitude. (ps. when I left similar review during regular post-check out review from Westin, I was offered, 10k Marriott points as a compensation for rubbing my face on someone else's crusty feces/urination soil.) 2)…
The staffs are very helpful and helped us to book restaurants and even wrap a gift! Morning buffet is good. Because we don’t speak Korean, the hotel staffs really help out in figuring out the way to point of interest, shuttle bus etc. The lounge food is very good too.
Not the hotel it was. Everything feels like an inconvenience to the staff. Even room service, with a reasonable 11.30pm shut off stated on the menu, has been moved to 10pm. 'Sorry sir, we changed it'. Just not on the menu. At least the prices are still 5 star.
I stayed there last month with my mother for a week and let me just say it was one of the best hotels we ever stayed at. The hotel was beautiful, the rooms were so clean and the views were amazing! The hotel is in the most central location of the Seoul. But what really made our stay the best was the service at the hotel. I must give a huge shout out to the Manager on Duty, Hazel Kim. Her professionalism and her heart for hospitality is what really made our stay special. Another person who went above and beyond was Ping Ko! She was so nice and always greeting us with a smile and helped us navigate the city. We also was always greeted with a warm welcome at the entrance by Gyung Yoon Lee. He was so nice and always asking if he could help with anything. The manager at the executive lounge, Deok Geun Son was also so nice and always made us laugh when we were at the lounge. The housekeeping staff and guest services was also amazing! I can't say it enough, but this beautiful hotel is amazing due to the staff. I will definitely be returning again. Thank you for a wonderful stay with my mother!…
Great hotel with a location central to a lot of places tourist will visit. Lots of fun restaurants south of the hotel. Marriot Club on level 20 is also great place to get a happy hour drink. Rail station is close by, making it convenient to see the locations you can’t walk too.
