This hotel is located right in the midst of the busy Insadong tourist street, beside the Insodong Maru, the centre of Korean Culture. Despite the constant flow of tourist traffic, it offers the perfect quiet environment required for a good night of rest, as it is less than 100m off the main street. The rooms are good size, beds are...

Location location location. There is a tripadvisor award winning large hotel within 10-15 minute walk, so please consider that one also. For us though, this place was much less money, it was more of a small basic hotel and we like such places. As you will read from others, there is no shower curtain. If that is a problem, go...

Seoul is an expensive city, so if you could find a private en-suite room, smack in the middle of the city, in a great neighborhood, for $50 or less you are looking at an great value. For the same amount of money you could end up in a dorm room. I just love the location of this hotel, right in...

1st timers to Seoul and we found our way to a coffee shop by subway for help! So many helpful people and 1 kind gentlemen walked us to the Saerim. Right in the middle of Insadong! Venturing the streets at night was wonderful! Daytime wandering produced open shops, inquisitive students and many photo ops! Love the location! Open cabinet to...

The location is the most positive thing. Insadong Street is right outside, and it is in walking distance to Buckchon Village, palaces, and the stream. Many great restaurants and stores are right outside your door. Also, Anguk Station is only about a 5 minute walk away. Safe neighborhood. You do get what you pay for. The carpet looked filthy, but...

Don't expect luxury. The room is smallish with a double bed. The bed is rock hard... But this hotel is in a quiet location, off the main road, near to all the tourist sights, just off the great pedestrian street of Insadong-gil and is a great price. No breakfast but plenty of options close by. Good wi-fi in room which...

I stayed in hotel for 4 nights. The hotel location is very good. The price is reasonable. Hotel hasn't restaurant and many services but I think many travelers don't need and don't use many of these services.

We stayed here for 4 nights over Chuseok weekend and we loved it. The hotel is difficult to find (we had people on the street trying to help us after the taxi got lost), but once you know where it is it's easy to find again! It is an older style hotel but that's obviously what you get for the...

Hotel isn't as hard to find as I thought,, but I would recommend printing a map to take with you. Easy to get to from either line 3 or 5 on subway so no worries there. Room is small but completely adequate, clean and quiet. Location just off the busy streets with loads of shopping and restaurants so you can't...

The Saerim Hotel has everything that a budget traveler would need - clean rooms, cheap rates, and a fantastic location. Let's start with the positives: -Very central location in Insadong with a subway station and an airport bus stop about a 5-10 minutes walk away -Lots of restaurants, cafes, and bakeries nearby -Lively and safe location, feels safe at night...

Staying in Insadong

Neighbourhood Profile
Insadong
Nestled between Jongno and Samcheongdong, this small neighborhood offers a crash course in various aspects of Korean culture. Rows of shops display traditional Korean goods such as pottery and earthenware, crafts, fans, and more, making it a popular spot for souvenir shopping. The Ssamziegil shopping complex in particular has become a local institution for its unique spiral layout and the many boutique shops inside that sell handmade crafts and goods. This is the perfect neighborhood to sample a range of Korean dishes, with vegetarian Korean temple cuisine restaurants being a popular draw, but street food carts are just as famous. As a top tourist destination, crowds can swell, particularly on weekends, but you can find some rest and respite in one of the private art galleries or grab a cup of Korean tea in a tea house – many of which are located in beautifully renovated traditional Korean homes.

“I'm not sure if all rooms are equipped with a computer, so it might be worth confirming beforehand as it really comes in handy. There is wifi there, but it's very weak/slow to the point that it's basically useless (at least in my room on the 2nd floor), but the hotel room computer's internet was fast. Also before you unpack all of your things, check that the other stuff is working. If it isn't, they'll let you change rooms.”
