I stay in Beewon for 3 nights (May 2011). It is located near to Jongno 3(sam)ga subway station, approximately 5 minutes walking (with no luggage). If you walk to this place, please take note that it is located at back lane, so it maybe a bit hard to find, but if you come from Jongno 3(sam)ga station, just walk until...

I had a confirmed reservation and arrived well before the check-in deadline, but was told that they had overbooked and was turned away! According to the desk clerk, the manager routinely does this during busy times.

I stayed four nights in a single room and the room was good for all you would expect in a basic 2-3 star motet type lodgeing. It gave me a twin bed in a room with a cable television, wireless internet and clean bed , small compact refridgerator. The bathroom had a spray shower head on the wall but everything...

My friends and I should've checked the review here before booking. We were in a rush and the place was listed in a guide book, and the pictures in the web site looked decent. The location is ok. But the serviece was one of the worst I have gotten in my life. They took out our room and insisted that...

I have stayed at Bee won twice so I can simply said, " it's safe, convenient and have free breakfast". Remember, this is Seoul which now ranked the 7th most expensive city to live in so the price is reasonable. So, for people who complain Beewon, stop complaining. Why don't you stay at a hotel of you want a 5...

My first trip to Seoul was a letdown by staying at the Beewon guest house. The actual type of room which I paid online was different when I arrived. Instead I was put in a very small room with a double-bed which I have to share with a male friend (for 3 nights). This is on the old block where...

its walking distance in the 4 major Tourist spots in Seoul, namely 2 Palace, Bukchon and Insadong Walking Street Market. The nearest submway line is very convenient coz it requies less transfer from one line to another gooing to other tourist spots.

We booked the Beewon Guesthouse for the last three nights of December. Upon arrival we had to pay upfront. After we had paid we were taken to another Guesthouse - the Songwon and were shown to a disgusting box size room. The escort and the owners did not speak English, but they knew the room was bad and the next...

I plan my trip at early December and I reserved a double room with the guest house (related email is in attachment which is named "reserve.doc"). Moreover, I followed their instruction and reconfirmed the room 7 days before I arrived (related email is in attachment which is named "reconfirm.doc"). In 28 Dec, I arrived the guest house at around 10...

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighbourhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighbourhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighbourhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the centre of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
