We booked for 5 days and arrived at around midnight. I specifically emailed then that we will arrive late at night days before to confirm our reservation. But when we got there, we were told that there is no more room for us. The lady had a hard time speaking English so we couldn't hardly understand each other. But it...

The review I made at booking.com has mysteriously disappeared without information. So I'm writing here as well. I booked the place via booking.com for the dates 4-5.02.2017. When we arrived at the guesthouse, there was no one at the counter. We tried to look around for some contact number, but there was nothing. We waited for more than one hour,...

This is a really great place to stay. Billy ( the staff there ) is really nice. The price is cheap and the location is great. At first we have some difficulties finding this place. But the people there help us to find the place. We booked 2 rooms. the single room is great. My mom got the room without...

I have booked 1 triple room, but when I arrived the guesthouse, they didn't have the record and arrange us 1 double room and a single room instead, this is not the first time as I saw the review of other travelers. But the price is reasonable and have 2 cats which is the star of the guesthouse.

Ask them to change bed sheets but they didnt. Friendly staff but service isnt there. We saw bedbugs climbing around and was bitten badly...

Just know this place has two really sweet and cute cats, so if you are allergic, don't stay here. The staff is really pleasant to interact with (and helpful). The dorm room is clean and the AC is good. It's very affordable and centrally located. I thought the bathroom was also clean, which is seriously a deal breaker for me...

Stayed here last year. Location was really accessible (near a palace and a subway line) - I used the airport bus and had no difficulty finding the guesthouse (just followed the instructions/map). I was first assigned in the room beside the reception area. It was so cold since the receptionist said that the heater will just be turned on at...

My memory of this guesthouse would be Iwori and her son-Gum Dong. They are actually the CATS of this guesthouse. They are the charms of this guesthouse. When we arrived, the cats as if greeting us from the entrance. Followed us to the room, climb to the sink, and apparently showing indicator he was asking for drinks. He played with...

Great value for price. It was near many tourist attractions like Changdeokgung & Insadong, and is near Jongo-3ga station, which has 3 subway lines, and Anguk station, so the commute to different places was a breeze. The only GH I've stayed in that has its own internet in the room, and a good bathroom with an actual bath tub. The...

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighbourhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighbourhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighbourhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the centre of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
