The makings of a very good place are here, but the owners are overextended and can't give it enough attention. Our room was spacious with 2 windows but the sleeping mats were terribly thin. The courtyard needed sweeping and tidying (we did some of it ourselves) and in 5 days our waste baskets were not emptied. They served a nice...

Went korea twice, 1st time staying in a traditional hanok house. We arrived early around 10 plus, thus, the rooms are not ready. So we deposited our luggage and went to nearby attractions. When we will back around 3plus the rooms are ready. The rooms are not that big but are cozy enough for 2 pax. As we went in...

I had guests visiting Seoul for the first time and they wanted to stay in a traditional house for a couple nights. I took them to the Tea Guesthouse. The owner was late to let us in, but the rooms were great, the mats on the floor were comfortable and the bathroom was clean. It was a great place to...

My husband and I stayed at the main Tea Guesthouse for 2 nights in early September. It can be hard to find for the first time so keep your eye out for the TripAdvisor signboard just outside the door, on the right hand side of the street. The main door is opposite a small church building with a large red...

My girlfriend and I stayed at Tea Guesthouse for 2 weeks in early September. The facility was comfortably cozy and had a nice view of the town from the rooftop patio. We stayed in a room furnished with private bathroom and kitchen. Both were incredibly convenient for the long trip. The room was spacious, clean and came with a great...

To decide to spent certain time in traditional Korean Hanok house was unforgetable experience. The room were clean and fully equiped with modern appliancies such as TV, laptop, A/C, Wi-fi internet. Somehow different can seem to sleep on the floor, however it is only up to your expectations, there is still offered mattress, pillow and blanket to enjoy the night...

This was our second time stayin in a Korean Hanok type of accomodation and it was a very nice experience. As with all Hanok stays, sleeping on the floor on a thin mattress is somewhat strange at first if you are not used to it - so if you don't want to try it out, choose a different type of...

We stayed here (in their Bamboo house) in late April and had a lovely time. Easy to find and check-in. Good facilities which allow you to have a meal at home on occasion. Ondol (underfloor) heating was divine. Great location in an area whcih mixes tradition and modernity. Great hosts as well.

Neighbourhood Profile
Samcheongdong / Bukchon
This historic neighbourhood was traditionally home to Seoul’s middle and upper-classes. Now it’s most famed for its clusters of beautiful, traditional Korean homes (called hanok), many of which are found in Bukchon. Many of these homes have now been converted into restaurants, cafes, shops, and even guesthouses, and their unique architecture offers a look at Korea’s traditional beauty. Samcheongdong’s main and side streets attract locals and tourists alike for their quaint and charming scenery, while the Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae) serves as the residence for South Korea’s president. Art fans will love exploring the many independent and private art galleries in the area.
