After almost three weeks in Myanmar I wanted somewhere comfortable for my last two nights. Golden Star Guesthouse was excellent- everything I was looking for. The room was bright with decent size window, huge comfortable double with single bunk bed above (could actually sleep three but that would be a squeeze with luggage), good A/C, powerful and hot shower, nice...

The location of this guesthouse is great - an easy walk to many sights in Yangon, though a cheap taxi ride to the Shwedagon pagoda. The stairs are dirty, but the guesthouse itself is clean. The rooms are on the small side but manage to fit everything you need including a/c, tv and bathroom (rooms without bathroom are also available)....

Arriving at the Golden Star Guest House on the back of reading only a few (very positive) reviews, we were naturally sceptical about how good the accommodation was actually going to be. How unfounded are worries turned out to be. Very accommodating and hospitable staff, spotless rooms and a fantastic location - all for half the price that you would...

What a find! Amazed there are so few reviews. This place was great, the staff were helpful, the rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious. Breakfast was fruit, tea and a sweet bread bun which was tasty. It's on the second floor which looks odd but it's super when you get up there. We had a room with a shower and...

After reading many not-so-great reviews of the accommodation in Yangon, we decided to take a chance with this place we found on wikitravel. It proved to be a good choice. The room was large enough, with a queen sized bed with a bunk over half of it. There was plenty of space to move around the bed, but perhaps not...

Situated along Merchant Road, it is located very nicely in town. The guesthouse is located in the 2nd level of this building with a rather old facade, but the guesthouse itself is pleasantly clean. For a reasonably-priced USD25 in the expensive Yangon, I was offered a room with a double-decker double bed which can sleep a whole family of 5....

Appearances can be deceiving. From the outside, the building that holds the Golden Star doesn't look any different from the other popular backpacker joints around the corner. When the typical LP suggestions failed to deliver quality matching the price, I went to the Golden Star expecting little and was blown away by the cleanliness, the spaciousness, and even the decor....
