The staff was vey helpful and courteous. Their English was good as well. The rooms are quite outdated, but the hotel is clean and they have tried hard to make it lovely with what they have. Breakfast was huge as well.

Stayed at the Excel Palace for 4 nights of a month long stay in Yangon. So in an apples-to-apples comparison, it is close to 3 stars. . . but falls short in several ways. You be the judge: The room was large and wasnt lacking for furniture, but the drapes were badly torn and the bedding had a lot of...

The desk staff was awesome!! They were very helpful and spoke a good bit of English. The upscale home turned hotel, looked tired and in need of repair. But there was a lot of very nice woodwork all around and the hotel had "character," for sure! I personally enjoyed sitting out by a small balcony reading and watching the birds....

Hotels in Yangon, now that Myanmar is the "flavour of the month", are now very expensive with the xception of the Excel Palace. It is not downtown but close to Inya Lake and the Inya Lake Hotel which is where I wanted to be close to. It is an old private home and has no lift but spiral staircases, so...

the place is an old place, the first room was dirty, and the bath room was unclean. Requested to shift to another room, also not clean. Will never stay there again. Will not recommend anyone else to stay there too.

The decor is old and tired, but it is clean as much as it can be considering its age. Our room smelt of smoke so ask for a non-smoking room if possible. You collect a ticket at reception for breakfast at the restaurant on the street behind the hotel.

The Hotel is situated on the New University Avenue Road, just a short walk from Inya Lake and Aung San Suu Kyi's house. It was once a large house in keeping with so many in this affluent area, that has been converted into a hotel. At least it had some character about it. The staff were extremely smiling and bowing....

We stayed at Excel Palace Hotel for 22 days. First and foremost, we mention our #1 staff. Simon, the manager, and also the assistant manager who went out of their way to assist us. From city directions, room comfort, even impromptu language lessons, they were there with a smile. Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The location of the...

We only arrived at 4pm and left at 5am the following morning but the service and assistance we received from the front desk was outstanding. We needed a bus booked the following morning and that was no problem – they also had the taxi ready for us at 5am the following morning before we even got down to reception. The...
