Great setting by the lake , dinner in Rachel's which was first class, great beef. Rooms are quiet and spacious , with good showers. Staff as always very polite and helpful. Breakfast great choice , nice atmosphere. It is Monsoon season so fairly empty, but makes for a relaxed feel

Unfortunately we did only spend one night at this hotel, - we would have liked to stay more nights - to be able to enjoy all the hotel has to offer. The breakfast was one of the best ones I have experienced around the world, - and after a short stroll through the gardens I wish we could have stayed... More

Stayed there for only 2 nights recently. Gracious service, very comfortable rooms, quite a good restaurant. A very good location right on one of the cities lakes. Reasonably close to the cities main sights.

This was originally the British Boat Club building and is typical of the old colonial style but with modern facilities. Also it is in a quieter part of the city and easy enough to catch a taxi into the centre; the taxis are very cheap. We arrived at 05.30 in the morning and they allowed us to check in to... More

This is the third time I've stayed there and by now it's like coming home. I have stayed in several different types of rooms and my favorite is the deluxe lake view on the 4th floor. The view is to the Royal Lake, very quiet. Well "quiet" is a relative term as the birds are chirping away all morning- really... More

Stayed for one night at Kandawagyi Palace. Rooms are OK (our first room was like a fridge - AC thermostat didn't work - after asking we received another room). Breakfast was average. We had to wait more than 15 minutes to get 2 fried eggs (total guest less than 10)... no fresh juice!

Following an amazing two week trip along the Irrawaddy River from Mandalay to Yangon we spent a couple of further days exploring this fascinating city.We stayed at the Kandawgyi Palace following a recommendation from a friend and were not disappointed. If you simply want a city centre hotel with all the mod cons then this might not be for you... More

The exterior of this hotel is better that the interior. The hotel sits on a lakefront which makes for a good morning workout . I wasn't too hot about the heavy timber interior lobby of the hotel. There is heavy use of scents in the rooms , which is unpleasant for those with a sensitive nose. Our room had a... More

Conveniently located with pleasant views of pagoda and lake. Staff cannot do enough to be of service. Great breakfast menu. Minor negative in rooms facing rather noisy car park, but hotel staff were prepared to move to a quieter room at back
