Siem Reap, Cambodia

Coming from Siem Reap it took my brain a little bit to adjust to a new economy! The first hotel I booked at $20 per night was an absolute dive. I got out of there as quickly as I could! Walked into Hotel Bond having checked it out online, yes it was a higher price, but worth every penny. The staff were so welcoming when I turned up at 8 in the morning, got me settled into a room and even invited me to have breakfast. The staff carried my suitcase up the stairs and even with the shared bathroom, i never saw the other guest sharing the bathroom so there was no conflict there. The bathroom was excellent with a rainforest shower and a smaller shower head. My suggestions here would be to get some bigger shampoo and shower gel bottles, the tiny individual ones are a waste of plastic and in this case space given that it is a shared bathroom. Putting some floor mats for the bathroom would also be a good idea, 2-3 so each room can have their own.
The room was small but very comfortable and clean.
The breakfast was decent and the daily noodle dish was always vegetable only which is just perfect!
My only other recommendation would be large water refills. Whilst having large water bottles as well as small is a big step above most hotels, I would prefer to use no plastic at all. When I asked the guy at the desk where I might refill my bottle, he said he didn't know and to maybe try a pagoda, when I walked out the door it was less than 30 seconds before I saw that there are water tanks on the street all over the place and these are for anyone to use! Hurrah! Still it would be great if the hotel included water refills in their breakfast room.

Location is great - right in the middle of downtown. The bathroom was brandnew. We had a family room with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Staff was very nice and if there wer hiccups, they were eliminated immediately. We stayed there twice, at the beginning and at the end of our Myanmar trip. Breakfast was great, too!

Stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. Breakfast was included and great value - terrific buffet of Burmese food and pot coffee. You won't go hungry for the day!

The dining room was a little small though so depending on what time you come down to eat, you may have to share a table with strangers...but hey - meeting people is the best part of travel, right?

The staff were very attentive and had good English, and were accommodating to change our room and extend.

The rooms were comfortable - not huge, but modern, clean, and incredible beds. The down side is however, it's a shared bathroom for the majority of rooms but in saying that - we never passed another guest on either floor so it felt like a private bathroom. There's an overhead rain shower head as well which fees a bit luxury!

Each floor has a lounge area and 'kitchenette' area which simply has a microwave, but that's convenient in a hotel.

Another downside to the rooms is that the majority don't have windows. We read a tip to request one but our first night after arriving from a night bus was without (probably for the best so we could sleep!), but then the staff changed us to a new room with a great view over the city. I think there's only maybe two or three rooms with windows though so don't bet on getting one.

Another unfortunate thing depending on which way you look at it - there's no elevator! The staff are so strong and will carry your bag without problem, but if you're on the top floor like us - there's a cool 84 steep steps to contend with but god it feels good once you reach your floor AND you get a free workout!

Wifi was good until it dropped out but that was a network wide issue, not the hotel's fault. Common in Myanmar!

Location was supreme. We loved just getting into the 'grit' of the city and waking the streets for some cool photographs and see the locals' lifestyle. Easy walk along the main roads towards Sule Pagoda, but if you stay - zigzag between the hotel and there...your senses will be blown away.

Review sounds somewhat negative but we really enjoyed the hotel and are considering staying again when we return to Yangon in a few weeks!

I didn't have high hopes for this hotel, but the photos and rating seemed good. I should have been more cautious and read the reviews more carefully. First, there is no elevator. My fault for not checking that, so no negative rating for this. The hotel has 8 floors so you may have to climb 8 stories to your room. The biggest shock factor was how old and beat up the rooms were. The website pictures look nice but are either photoshopped or so old that they no longer are accurate. The walls are dirty and covered in the blood of many dead mosquitoes. The bathrooms used to have white grout, but now are black with mildew. -2 rating for horribly accurate pictures. Second, the hotel does nothing for mosquito control. I stayed in multiple hotels throughout Myanmar and every hotel was proactive at controlling the mosquitoes. This place does nothing and the rooms were filled with them. We got bit multiple times during the night. -1 rating for mosquito control. We got the entire floor (two rooms), and one of the rooms smelled of cigarette smoke. -1 rating for that. +1 rating as the staff seemed nice, the breakfast was decent, and location was good. That adds up to a +2 rating. I would not recommend this place at all.

A very basic hotel in a great location. The rooms were clean and well kept. Very quiet at night with a lovely soft mattress. Breakfast was terrific with a nice selection of foods. Staff were friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a cheap hotel in Yangon to meet your basic requirements then I could highly recommend.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, they provided plenty of drinking water for free and prepared a fruit platter for us one evening, which was pretty sweet of them. We booked a bus to Kalaw through them and everything went smooth. They also stopped taxis for us and negotiated the price when we wanted to go somewhere.

The room had no window but it was very well illuminated, so we didn't really miss a window. The bathroom was shared, but since we were the only guests on that floor we were the only ones using it. Room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and everyday they provided new soap, toothbrush, shampoo etc.

Wifi worked well during our stay!!!

The breakfast was buffet style and there was plenty if everything, mostly vegetarian. It was tasty and in a good quality.

We really appeciated the time in Bomd Hotel and would always come back to this nice place.

Hotel room is clean, cheap, aircon strong, wifi all good. Cons is shared toilet and no lift. Location is very good.
Near Junction Mawtin shopping mall, night markets, near chinatown street market, walkable distance to sule pagoda and St john city mall.
FYI, its the best hotel among other cheap hotels nearby (Vacation hotel, Yangon Regency, Family treasure hotel)
