Theres 2 commercial hot springs at Takara, one has several above ground pools and mud ponds, smells of sulphur and is a mess. The other is at the old Beachcomber Lodge and has 2-3 in ground pools. One is inside what was the restaurant before Pam. The pool is small and there is now a tarp instead of the roof....

I remember 1970's here when i was a toddler, those visits were special for a sunday dinner at the chicken farm run by the Kerr family later to metamorphose into the only worthwhile attraction 3 hours drive away from port vila before the tar sealed road was layed down. 2 years ago a change of management was obvious as we...

We paused at his sorry establishment with the intention of grabbing a drink and a quick bite to eat after snorkelling a WW2 aircraft wreck nearby. My first attempt to order anything failed; the woman behind the counter simply failed to respond in any way to my presence. We would have walked out then and there, but I was really...

I have been there before, but this time things got worse. Unfriendly service, no manager around, long waiting times and moreover - one of the reasons the children like to go - no hot water in the hot water pool ...

Stopped off here on our around island trip. There's much better options either way of the place, and i'd recommend anything else than here. I'd agree with the strange vibe. It's unnerving. the most miserable staff i'd encountered on the island. All we could think when we walked into the joint was how luck we were not to be staying...

while the pool and the location was good, the food was very expensive and not worth stopping. There are better options to eat - we drove past a local restaurant on the way and even a packed lunch would be better...

Air Vanuatu's inflight magazine had an excellent "round the island" article so we hired a car and set off. My husband drove as I kept the article in my lap to act as navigator & guide. As we reached beachcomber, I read from guide....."best described as quirky", and it was. We had a bowl of chips and a beer, while...

We decided not to ask about the accommodation after being there for 15 minutes. I had a cup of coffee (instant only), looked at the kitchen, looked at the signs hung about the place that advised you not to use the toilets if you weren't a guest (crude but anatomically correct), and met the owner. We fled. Sadly, there were...

Great oasis far north of Vanuatu. Sparkling clean hot water pools, best snorkling and diving not far away. Beaches where turtles really do come and lay their eggs - we saw them. White coral sands. Perfect for windsurfing or kiting. Kids and oldies find the pools more than enough (hot indoors / warm closer to the sea / cool waves...

I would not recommend this accommodation. Alan, the owner, is not nice nor helpful. We had no suggestions on where to go or what to visit. The room is big but rather basic. We had no hot water in the shower despite this is a zone of hot natural springs. The facility is old. If you are looking for a...
