Guam
5.0 of 5 bubbles
On June 17 to 23, five high school students from Guam and I stayed at this hotel, Comfort Suite Hotel and Apartment, for our 18th consecutive annual Palau Cultural and Educational trip. This is the second time our students from Guam have stayed at this hotel. Last year we wanted to stay at this hotel, but it was fully booked. This is because it is a rather new hotel, but its beauty is in its comfort. The rooms are comparably larger than most similarly sized hotels anywhere which is part of one's comfort. A guest or guests, in our case, we had three students in one of the rooms with kitchen, and it was like a huge living room with couches, flat screen tv, and other amenities. The other beauty of the hotel would be the excellent staff they have starting with Ms. Jessa who is very accommodating and would go out of her way to help a guest in need. Our students, who are high school age, who are at an age where they are hard to impress or satisfy had nothing but excellent comments about the hotel and staff. The hotel also has a large conference room equipped with a screen for multi-purpose functions.

Now the hotel recently opened its new restaurant called the Executive Lounge. Please check out the photos of the section of the restaurant toward the karaoke stage and the Sushi Bar that will be open soon. The lovely lady in the photo is Ms. Jessa whom you will find everyday at the hotel's reception area with that smile on her face. The restaurant serves three meals daily except on Sunday where it is only open for breakfast and lunch. This is because the owner of the hotel, restaurant and the entire business enterprise, Mr. Sam Masang and his wife, are very religious people. This is a blessing to the guests because every day for the longest time I know, the employees would hold a daily prayer downstairs asking His Blessings for the day. This means while a hotel guest may still be sleeping, a prayer is held downstairs so your day will be blessed. The implication of this practice is that Sam and his wife, Changina, are so generous that at times they would be more giving to their guests which means profits for their business become secondary. Where would one find something or someone like Sam and Changina? The restaurant also has a room that would provide a more private activities for guests equipped with karaoke mike, speakers, and comfortable couches. While you are at the restaurant, try their Udong......it is the best I have ever had anywhere.

If you are planning a trip to Palau either for pleasure or business, this is a place to stay. It is located in a remote area of Koror where it is not only very quiet and peaceful at night, there is a security armed with a German Shepherd who both work tirelessly at night. There is also wi-fi available but a guest would have to buy cards to access internet. For pleasure and especially for those who wish to visit the famed rock islands, check with Starsky, the driver of a beautiful twin-engine speed boat with cabin that could take you anywhere. Star lives up to his name and he knows just where to go for fun in the sun. There is also the Island Renal Car that is owned by Mr. Masang so your land transportation needs could be accommodated as well.

Lastly, if you are having any problem while staying at the hotel, call Doreen, whose Palauan name is Melatk. The name literally means "remember." Doreen will always remember to take care of you. Check out their website at www.peci-palau.com and "remember" to call Melatk (Doreen) or Jessa. These ladies will ensure your comfort during your entire stay. The five high school students from Guam and I did during our last visit. This is now the only hotel I will stay whenever I visit Palau.....because it is comfort I am looking for....and it is comfort that you will find at the Comfort Suite Hotel and Apartment.

If you ever go to Palau this would be he place I recommend..I stayed at this hotel.. We had a double room which has A queen and a full size bed, two couches, and a kitchen with stove, oven and refrigerator.. And a lounge area outside..wi fi too.. there's also a nice restaurant in the same building with great food. Classy and good in value...it's close to all the hot spots and tourist attractions. Even has a room and car deal.. On oct 2012 we had the double room and car deal for about $125 a day.. Also have a pickup and drop off service to and from the airport.. Overall had a awesome experience the. The staff were friendly and the place was very clean..

Rooms are large and have a decent size tv with cable. There is a good restaurant in the hotel. It is convenient if you are diving out of Malakal island. The hotel is rather aprtan on any type of shampoos and soaps so pick up some before you check in.

I selected this place based on the other reviews posted, which were all positive, but my experience with this apartment/motel was not pleasant nor worth what I paid for my package.

The main issue I had with this place was the amount of noise from around the complex and from within. My first night was a Friday, one of the most noisy nights I experienced, with people partying in the hallways and staircases and singing to Karaoke. The next morning after having almost no sleep, I complained to Sam's Dive Tours, who sold me my dive/room package. The motel staff told Sam's that the motel's onsite Karaoke bar is only loud on Friday and Saturday. This was not always the case and I experienced regular poor sleeps. I asked one of the motel staff about the noise from the Karaoke and he said they didn't have proper sound proofing. I was hoping that they would keep the volume down after I mentioned how loud it was since my room was almost right over the lounge and restaurant. There were also construction trucks passing by the front to do excavating up the road from early morning through to the afternoon. Banging, hammering and general industrial noises could be heard from the next door shops as well, starting in the early morning and continuing throughout the day. Eventually, a manager at Sam's took action but only after a couple of weeks had passed, and for my remaining four days, was moved to West Plaza Malakal, at no extra expense to myself. Malakal was dead quiet and much nicer in all aspects in comparison.

The road leading to and in front of this this motel is filled with very deep potholes. When is rains, the potholes fill with water and makes it almost difficult to impossible to walk on without getting your feet soaked.

Another concern was the lack of front reception staff on a 24 hour basis. Most, if not all hotels/motels/resorts, have someone at front reception at all times. I was told before I arrived via email by the motel staff that there was 24 hour security, but they are not onsite and are actually an on call 24 hour security service. This was important to me as there are no safes in the rooms.

There were some good aspects about this place and that would be that my suite was clean and spacious and had a large screen tv with comfortable furnishings. Also, the food in the restaurant lounge downstairs was good and the staff was pleasant and generally helpful. There are nice restaurants within walking distance such as Carp, Kramers, and Longshoremen. Carp and Kramers were especially nice.

My trip would have been greatly improved if I hadn't stayed here. However, if you aren't bothered by noise and concerned with lack of security/24 hour reception, then this place might work for you.

I occasionally visit Palau which is my birthplace but currently live and work on Guam. I travel to and from Palau almost on a monthly basis and this is the only hotel I have stayed at during the last five years. The main and only reason I chose to stay there is because of the quality of service, the accessibility to their excellent restaurant (btw, check their blueberry pancake...it is the best in the entire country bar none) and they have rental cars as well. However, above all, as in many businesses, the staff who works at these establishments and how they provide the services to their clients will ultimately make a difference whether one should return or not. The fact that I have only stayed at this hotel for the past five years is a living testament of the quality of services that the staff provides. Walk into their Front Dest office on the second floor, and the first thing you see is a smile on Ms. Jessa Panaligan's face and all of your stresses melt away. Then the new guys who are assigned to their rental cars would even meet you at the airport at 11:30 p.m. still with a smile for you to return your car. The restaurant has excellent food and besides their blueberry pancake, they have fresh sashimi daily. This is because Sam Masang, the owner, is an excellent fisherman and would occasionally go fishing to provide fresh fish. Lastly, the entire company is still based on their deeply rooted Christian belief that they "do unto others as others would do unto you." Thanks Sam, Changeina, Doreen, Star, Jessa, and others for being like a family to me during all of my visits. I will be there soon to continue to enjoy the hotel for another five years.

Just around the corner of Sam´s Tours, this is a clean budget hotel and best accommodation in that price range. If you come for diving, it is a 2 minutes walk to Sam´s Tours, a 4 minutes walk to Kraemer´s restaurant (the best food on the island) and a small supermarket is also around the corner. Rooms are layed out nearly with apartment size with a sort of living room with big sofas and TV being separate from the bedroom. Very clean, bathroom with showers, internet available by purchase of a card (7 hours for 10 USD). Breakfast is served in the restaurant with the classical choice of either Continental, omlett or pancakes.
The only negative aspect: windows are not double glazed and you hear either the cock early in the morning or when the metal scrapers next door start their work.
But all in all a very good choice for divers on a budget

Having selected the least expensive lodging option that our dive tour operator offered, we were pleasantly surprised by how nice the accommodations were. Okay, it's not much to look at (located above an auto parts store) nor is there a view but the suite was huge with a living area, bedroom, bathroom, and small kitchen that included a real stove, refrigerator, cooking utensils, and dishes. The beds were comfortable. The A/C was cold. The water was hot and had plenty of pressure. There's a restaurant on site with decent food (though we only ate there once). The staff was friendly, happily gave us extra towels, and provided middle of the night airport pickup and drop off. Finally, it's walking distance to Sam's Tours, the scuba diving operator that was the focus of our visit to Palau. Other than the lack of a tropical island resort view (which we couldn't afford), the only downside from our perspective was the sketchy WiFi that you had to pay for and it didn't work more often than it did.

close to Sam's Dive Shop. West or Kings Mini Mart within walking distance. Drop Off bar and grill within walking distance. This establishment is probably the only one in Palau that offers a room and car deal.

Location is above Napa Auto Parts, in an industrial section, about three blocks from SAMs Tours and associated harbour. No view, LARGE living space, 10 minute walk from Kramers, The Carp restaurant, Bottom Time, SAMs Tours, mini marts and grocery store and about a 20 minute hike to town. The BIG value added...car rental (Nissan Sentra) included. This was a great way to end our dive vacation. While we had lots of room to dry out our gear, the inclusion of a vehicle allowed us to fully explore the island. Car took $50 in fuel to cover our day and a half of driving all over Palaus creation and there was no issue with leaving the car at the airport for our 4 a.m departure.

Jessa at the front desk was a gem...only recommendation for the property...be great if they supplied drinking water.

In the last two decades that I have visited Palau both on official and personal visit, I have stayed at this wonderful hotel 99% of the time. There are three reasons for my review. First, the hotel has large rooms with large tv and their own independent internet which means the hotel has wi-fi. Second, the staff, especially those at the Front Desk, and the Housekeeping are probably one of the best I have seen, if not the best. Third, the location of the hotel is excellent because it is away from the main city which means it is always relatively quiet and peaceful. I have traveled to many countries including USA, Japan, England and others which means I have stayed at numerous hotels including those that are internationally known larger hotels. These are hotels that are advertised as four or five stars, but they have become so large that one can get lost in its surroundings. This hotel is small enough to be peaceful and yet retains its beauty and charm. The S & C Hotel Suites and Appartments has a fine restaurant that serves both local and international cuisine. They have probably the best sea food selections because the fish are usually fresh and very tasty. Their blueberry pancake is to die for in the morning....and you would want to come back for more. The owners, a husband and wife team, are among the most religious couple in the country. This means they bring their strong Christian belief to run and manage their hotels. This is extremely important because they treat their guests as if they are members of their families. I have enjoyed my stay at this in the last two decades and I hope to continue to enjoy it. As a Palauan who reside on Guam and travel to Palau often, I strongly and unequivocally recommend this hotel to anyone who is traveling to Palau for business or pleasure.

Hello. TripAdvisor doesn't let me post websites, but if you do a Google search for "S&C Hotel Suites & Apartments website", you will find the hotel website. I know the name is a little different, but I promise that the name on the website is "S&C" but everyone on the island calls it "Comfort Suites". They are also listed as a partner hotel on the Sam's Dive Tours website. Currently, the website shows me $105 per night for a single room.
