The location is great! Many historic places to visit in one or two block distance: museums (Botero, Museo del Oro, etc), houses where the Independence movement began, etc. The staff was very polite and professional. The breakfast was good too,

We stayed at Hotel de la Opera for 4 nights in March. We arrived in Bogota late at night, so we arranged an airport pickup with the hotel. The driver met us promptly right outside the immigration/baggage area. The drive to the hotel took about 20 minutes. Check-in was fast with a friendly receptionist. Our room was 714 on the...

Hotel de la Opera is in a great location in the middle of the old town of Candelara in Bogota. The room on the seventh floor was very nice with a great view. But my three nights there were totally frustrating. Very few of the staff speak English, so in order to get room service, I had to give my...

We stayed 4 nights at the Hotel de la Opera, next to the Theatre Colon. We were in room 102, which is a ground floor room, looking out onto the courtyard It was a smallish older room, with no outside windows. It had a TV, small fridge, minibar, telephone, a queen bed, lots of plugs for charging devices, an electronic...

Dear Hedo-goer Thank you very much for the time you spent making this review, I am sure it will help a lot to all our incoming guests. Usually, our transfer service could cost less cheap due to the shift the driver does from the Hotel to the airport and come back, however, arriving the first time to the city it...

We had no idea what to expect other than American Express had recommended this hotel as well as a few others. The position of the hotel was good, right in the centre of town - Canelaria, the old city and near to all the government buildings The staff have very limited English which doesn't make the best welcome. We were...

Went with my GF for a special occasion. We had a wonderful time. Hotel´s Decor is definitely something else. Totally Recommended. Food is not bad but not great either. We chose of the antique rooms, they also have modern rooms in the higher floors but i suggest going to the old ones

Great location , excellent hotel. Don't stay in the upstairs room 303 if there are any groups staying there . Very noisy The breakfast was good, eggs made to order. Not a lot of variety but it was fine. Very good value for the money !

This small hotel is exceptionally located in la Candelaria, the historic and elegant district of Bogota. The room was vast and comfortable enough, breakfast is good without being superb; staff are obliging, smiling, discreet and extremely kind. From this hotel you can easily walk to Plaza Bolivar, the main square, with its grand collection of official buildings, the Botero Museum, and the Gold Museum. Good location. The service is not 5 stars, but in Colombia you will downgrade your expectations. The Candelaria neighborhood is not interesting and you won't feel very safe walking around, but is really better than the rest of Bogota.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel de la Opera is located in La Candelaria, next to the Cristobal Colon Theater, in front of "Palacio San Carlos", currently headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one block from Bolivar Square and a fifteen minutes walk to the funicular for Monserrate hill. Thanks to its strategic location, our guests can easily visit the most characteristic places of the city, for example the Gold Museum, Botero Museum, Primary Cathedral, etc. Also, many important government buildings are nearby. Walking its roads you will be part of its stories, legends and myths which are preserved in each of its houses. Questions like, why do the houses have doors of two meters? Where did Manuelita Saenz live her idyll with Simon Bolivar? Which is the window through which Simon Bolivar escaped? These are just some examples of the cultural treasures that you will find in La Candelaria. ... more   less
