La Paz is a very interesting city, but not at night ! El Rey hotel is situated very close to the center - we went out to dinner on the first night, but later realized that hotel restaurant is very good, they serve typical Bolivian dishes - and even provide elegant room service for no additional charge ! A must...

First impressions are good with a central location and a smart front of house. However the whole hotel beyond this looks tired and rather unloved. Our room on the sixth floor was huge, but the bathroom had no window and no ventilation system. The hot water took for ever to reach temperature. The ventilation system in the bedroom didn't seem...

The room was huge but very cold, the heater only works for a limited time (you have to switch it) and the carpets were not very clean. But the location is alright and it is obvious that the hotel was quite pretty when it was first built and decorated.

The hotel is in a good location and looks nice overall but there are many grave issues with hygiene and sanitation. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Almost the whole group I travelled with contracted salmonella and parasites from the hotel food. "Clean" plates were transported on the floors of the elevators. We discovered meat cold cuts and...

Poor overall hygiene, cold coffee at the breakfast and so on - food was mostly served not hot enough to our group in the restaurant - most of the group got food poisoning or even worse, with hospitalization, within 24 hours after eating there, and the only connecting factor was eating in the hotel restaurant. Dirty, dark rooms. Do not...

We stayed here before and after our trip to Uyuni. It's an older hotel around the corner from the main strip and Student Plaza. The hotel was clean and the rooms were huge, but the decor was older-style -- if that matters to you. There's a row of restaurants nearby but they open around 6 or 7 p.m. There's also...

Never again will I set foot in this " 4 star hotel". 2 stars would be too much for it! I paid quite a lot to stay in this 4 star hotel and I expected at least a comfortable room. However: - matrasses are old, and ' things' will stick in your back and side all night - bathroom towels...

After a couple of days travelling through the countryside of Bolivia (with mostly terrible sleeping facilities) this hotel really gives you the idea of home / civilization again. Most excellent breakfast buffet with friendly staff. Fortunately most staff at the reception speak English on a reasonable level. We will come back to this place again for sure when in La...

Welcoming staff at a hotel which is close to the centre of La Paz. We found the rooms large and very comfortable - we stayed there 3 times on a recent trip to Bolivia. The laundry service was great - we had a pile of smelly clothes having just returned from time in the Amazon basin. If you don't feel...
