There were three of us and we were given excellent interconnecting rooms. As she noticed from her ID that it was our daughter's birthday, Shering, who checked us in, arranged for a bottle of wine and a cake to be sent to our room. This was a lovely touch and much appreciated. The hotel has many restaurants set around the marina and the beach club is excellent. At the Intercontinental Abu Dhabi you can expect a friendly and efficient service and we certainly enjoyed this. Unfortunately we were only there one night but would definitely go again.

The Intercon is around 40 years old and it lacks the chrome and glass facade recent hotel builds. However, its ethos of great customer service compensates. Our room was clean, in good decorative order and was very comfortable. The interior design is a little dated, with dark woods prominent, but it looks and feels classy. We booked a Club Intercontinental room, which included breakfast, afternoon tea and cocktails in the 18th floor lounge. The staff there (Shiela, Mathai, Ahmed, Askander and Vince) were really welcoming and looked after us really well. The food and beverage offer was first class. The hotel has a pool deck on the 3rd floor, which is really nice and also the Bayshore Club, across the marina, which has pools and a sandy beach, bars and a spa. The Bayshore gets very busy and could be noisy with music playing and jet skis driving past. The hotel is in a nice location, being near the Emirates Palace, the Founder's memorial and the Corniche, with good views over the marina or park. Newer attractions (Louvre, Grand Mosque, Yas Island) are 30-40 minutes away by taxi, which was a hassle having to draw cash from ATMs to cover. My suggestion is if you stay here (worth it for the quality of the hospitality and the pools) then rent a car so that you can get around independently (we didn't rate some of the taxis or their drivers too highly). The concierges were excellent, organising day-6 PCR tests and chasing up the results for us – thank you Melanie! Mr Razik (duty manager) introduced himself and took an interest in ensuring we had everything we needed. The only criticism I have is the toiletries supplied in the bathroom were from an obscure brand and didn't seem very luxurious!…

I feel this hotel is well-equipped. You have everything you need right there! During my stay, I made use of the beach, the pools, the fitness facility, the hot tub, and more! I enjoyed my room, and the comfortable bed and pillows. I had a lovely view of the sea with lots of light. The room was quite spacious and very quiet. The bathroom had an incredible shower, though I wish the toiletries had been replenished more frequently. Given the location, I loved how generous housekeeping was with the water. It was essential to keeping me hydrated during the stay. The fitness area was great, and it was a bonus to have a hot tub and area around it to relax. The sea was gorgeous and the water warm. Not a lot of people down there, so you had the area almost to yourself. Construction noise does intrude on the serenity every once in a while. The breakfast had a wide selection, but service in the breakfast area was so-so. The staff was not proactive and did not offer beverage refills. It was up to you to go to them and ask, as they were busy sorting silverware. Also, the service in the pool area is lacking. Especially for those just arriving, it would be nice for a staff member to check in - are towels needed? Is the umbrella correctly positioned to avoid getting sunburned (as I did :-((. This would be a better use of their time than chatting amongst themselves. Kudos to the well-run front desk department, and especially Tarek. I love this hotel. It was my first stay and definitely not the last. Absolutely spotless clean and best service ever. The staff is amazing and absolutely professional. They are dealing immediately with your order or your request. Just amazing. The front desk guys were amazing, super friendly and ready to help in any regard of questions and wishes. The Club floor is great, the Club itself offers amazing service, the food and drinks are top, the service staff was the best - super friendly and attentive. I can recommend 100% this top hotel, even the building is not super new, the maintenance, the services and of course the people made my stay an unforgettable experience.

OUTSTANDING!! Brilliant from start to finish, the staff are extremely friendly, personally, I have not experienced as welcoming treatment from any hotel staff than the people at Intercontinental, they are a credit to your team. Jacob in the breakfast buffet was super and so was Kanich at the pool bar on the third floor. The room was extremely well cleaned every day, the facilities such as the pool, and restaurants were well equipped and also very clean. We will definitely be coming back, thank you for making our stay so special. We had the red all inclusive wrist band which allowed us drinks in every restaurant (not food), but food in the buffet which was great, and on this band you could also have meals by the pool on the third floor. There was the opportunity to upgrade to a blue wrist band for food in the other restaurants but we were satisfied enough with what the red one gave us.…

This hotel is Outstanding value for money! I booked two nights as I was arriving very early morning from Sydney and flying out very late that night to Barcelona so wanted to be able to check in and rest until I flew out. The rate was so reasonable I was worried it wouldn’t live up to usual Intercontinental standards but it was exceptional. The service was as impeccable as you’d expect, the breakfast buffet was delicious and there are so many gorgeous facilities and restaurants on site you really don’t even need to leave the hotel - although it is very conveniently located if you wish to explore ! The rooms are a tad outdated but well maintained and extremely comfortable. Highly recommend and it like stay again
