I've stayed at this hotel twice on all inclusive and was always quite pleased with the hotel but this year they decided to stop the all inclusive package at 10 pm. the bars and restaurants are of course still open way past this but you would have to pay for drinks after 10 pm. we decided to cancel our incontinental booking for sept/ oct and instead we went to the Beach Rotana on all inclusive instead which was over a £1000 cheaper than ICH. I have to say the Beach Rotana drinks choice was more limited than the ICH but their a la carte restaurants were absolutely superb and far surpassed the ICH food. (I haven't written my review yet) yes the outlook isn't as nice and the beach area isn't as large - no marina etc to sit and look over at night and no Hoegaarden or Belgian beer on the all inclusive.
The food was far superior, the main dining room was so much calmer . their all inc deal ended at 1130 pm but started as soon as you got up which the ICH does not. It doesn't star until 10 am. I did see a friend of mine who had returned again to ICH and was staying there whilst we were at Beach Rotana and said they had relinquished a little and extended the all inc to 11 pm . whether this will continue Im not sure but if you prefer food to drinks the beach Rotana had the edge. they have more a la carte restaurants with far more choice.
hope this helps

Yes - in October the weather will be lovely in the evening for walking on the Corniche. It is about 5 mins from the hotel entrance, past the ADNOC tower to the start of the Corniche, which is 7 miles long. At the end nearest the hotel there are a couple of bars and restaurants and a new family area is nearing completion- which looks to have a number of food outlets too.
Abu Dhabi doesn’t have a town centre as such, it is spread out over a number of areas. Taxis are cheap - you can get to the other side of the island for about 20aed (£4) - it is the easier and best value way to get around. Ask the guys at the concierge desk for what you want and they will guide you. If you have any other questions don’t hesitate to ask. I use the Intercontinental every weekend and I can’t recommend it more highly.
