As a boutique hotel featuring the owners own art collection, this hotel really stands out. It is very clean, the staff is very professional and friendly, and the rooms are clean and nicely furnished, even if they are a bit small. The best thing about the hotel is that there was always hot water when we needed it, a western...

We were fortunate to stay at the Hanania in March, May and December 2010 while we were training for the Syrian National Council for the Disabled. We found the hotel exceptional, but the staff were the real stars. They made us feel like family and were there morning, noon and night to help. Dr. Ahem, owner of the hotel, has...

We stayed at this hotel for three nights after a recommendation from a couple in Aleppo. This boutique hotel is like an art gallery, with each room decorated to a certain theme with works of Syrian artists. We found the rooms quite luxurious and had the best sleep and best showers of our trip at this hotel! The staff exhibited...

Treat with caution some of the glowing reviews you read about Hanania... it's one of the reasons we chose the hotel only to be sorely disappointed. Yes, the location is great, but that sadly, is about it! The breakfast is more a token offering or bread and coffee, leaving you most unsatisfied, the rooms have be sloppily put together with...

We stayed at the Hanania for 3 nights to have easy access to Old Damascus. The hotel it's a very good place to stay if you want to be in the Heart of Historical places and feel the atmosphere of centuries as well as inside of the hotel. There are several Syrian artists paintings in the rooms that are very...

The hotel is located in the christian quarter of Damascus in a quiet alley. Since everything in the old city is in walking distance this is a good starting point for exploring the city. The staff was friendly. The room the children stayed in was spacious, our room was smaller, but still comfortable. Hotel prices in Damascus are rather high...

Alleys in the old city are a litle drab so the entrance to the hotel doesn't do it justice. It's a small hotel with a great atmosphere and amazingly helpful staff. We arrived at around 2:00am with a problem with our hire car (another story). The staff came out and assisted us to fix it before settling us in to...

Stayed in the Romantic Suite for a week around Christmas 2009. Great for couples. Excellent customer service and very attentive and professional staff. They speak great English. Breakfast was the best I've ever had at a hotel and included in the room rate - fresh pita bread, hummus, yogurt, 3 different cheeses, tomato and cucumber slices, boiled eggs, cereal, juices,...

Our visit to the Hanania could not have been bettered. Our hosts treated us more like house guests than customers making us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. The hotel is relaxed, interestingly decorated and really well located.

“Most of the rooms are up steep stairs. If this is a problem request first floor accommodations. As in many boutique hotels here, breakfast is in a kind of wine cellar...down steep stairs.”
