In Iran when they say a 4, 5 star or 4 and 5 star diamond. We must remember that these are Iranian standards not international standards.

I not only stayed in the hotel on two occasions for several days but inspected every aspect of the hotel for an international convention.

Pro and Positive side:
The staff at the hotel are very helpful, friendly, and like Iran known for their hospitality and kindness to make every guest feel comfortable.

General Condition of the Hotel inside and Rooms:

Of the hotels that I visited in February 2015 December. Homa hotel though not perfect for conventions and meetings is preferable. Guests will find it comfortable. cozy. The staff are very helpful.

Lobby
Large, cozy with plenty of meeting and discussion place for those who want to meet in lobby. With large windows facing the outside court yard and fountain.
There is a lobby coffee shop with good coffees, juices and great hot chocolate, teas, NON alcoholic beers are available Drinks can be charged to room.
The bar staff could be a little friendlier, the woman rarely smiles.

Lobby Toilette:
On (right side of bell captain’s desk if facing outside) for ladies
Two western toilettes, all others are eastern toilettes but clean. Not enough for a hotel this size

Lobby Lifts ( Elevators)
There are 3 lifts that fit 8 people at a time without luggage. They are not fast lifts so enough time must be given for departures.

Departures: For tours and outside events can be done from garden court yard, main ballroom next to lobby, or lower ball room. This should be meeting area.

Breakfast
The breakfast room can fit up to 200 people at the same time with multiple double sided buffets. There is enough choices for all. Located to the left of reception ( if facing reception) One floor below reception. Large window facing fountain and outdoor court yard. Well lit .

Suggestion
Furniture some of the seats are tired and need to be changed as covers are wearing out, or torn.

Bedrooms:
Rooms are large and comfortable
Electronic chip room key
Minibar fridge: filled with juices, non alcoholic beer and basket of snacks with prices of each item
Bottled water: large bottle replenished daily( complimentary)
Kettle: Rooms have clean kettles with small cups for tea or coffee, instant coffee( 1 in 2),
Two wine glasses in room for juice and water rather then tumbler..
TV: Flat screen with remote. Very few non Persian channels available. Only English station is Press TV

Balcony: Doors open. No chairs to sit on balcony. Rooms very warm without head
Mirror: One large full length mirror near door
Safe: All rooms have room safes
Luggage: Luggage table available and enough room for bags
Closet Space: 6 hangers, space for shoes, laundry bag, extra pillow and blanket
Flooring: Fully carpeted room

Beds and Bedding: Sheets are clean
Still using bed cover with patterns from 1970’s 80’s 90’s style
Plush blanket ( very outdated). No duvets as is standard now.
Curtains: Curtains are dark and clean. More dusting required behind curtain.
Area around the beds are dusted daily and clean.

Heating and AC: Each room is indivually heated. The rooms are all too warm
Without heat on. Have found almost all hotels in Iran have same issue of warm.
Balcony door can be left open in winter to allow fresh air to cool room

Lighting: There are lights on table where tea and coffee are found
Both side of night stands. Tall lamp also found however
in every room I checked in was not easy to understand how to turn light off.
I had to unplug tall lamp. Enough light at door, entrance Balcony light was difficult to find. In the middle of night the light turned off Hotel needs to check room lights regularily as several hotels I noticed bulbs out.

Telephone: Telephone has English instructions to call bell desk, reception
Room service etc. Room service menu also available.

Plugs: Plug under TV desk, next to coffee machine
European sockets.
Hotels has no extra adapters.

Amenities: Two slippers in paper, shoe horn and shoe cleaner

Toilette: Western toilette, toilette paper, bidet
Large counter space
Blow dryer
Two hand towels, two bath towel ( no face towels)

Amenities Two tooth brushes, tiny toothepaste, shower cap, mini sewing kit,
small round soap bar, shampoo, emery board for nails
( no hair conditioner and no body creams)
*** Hotel changes soap bar daily not necessary not good for environment
Plastic bath slippers in toilette ( not in plastic)

Toilette Condition: Toilette is clean and sanitized
Marble is tired with poor patch work and repair ,
sloppy painting everywhere

Bath and Shower: Full sized bath tub and shower. Not all bathtubs in Iran are the same size
Sufficient hot water and clean
( Balcony door should be left open to air room out after shower to prevent condensation)

Room door: Do not disturb sign, clean room sign available
Breakfast room service available and extra must be on door
by 2h30 ( extra not included in convention package)

WIFI: Card available for WIFI.. Wifi connection poor. or slow
No social media permitted ( Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, instagram)

Safety: Hotel rooms have fire escape routes and plans on the doors, stair cases easy to find.
Hotel staff have first aid training

Extinguishers available

Location: Very well located
Taxi stand near by
Public bus services
Walking distance are pharmacies ( not clear its chemist)
Shops to buy clothes, sweets, sundry, food courts, hospital
Within very short walking distance

Safety: Side walks are not always even. Care should be taken when walking outside
Crossing the street is very dangerous. Zebra crossing not respected
Walking late in the evening very safe, streets are well light.

Suggestions:
Stairs in shops, garages are marble and uncovered and slippery
( winter carpet for safety should be on them) Care should be taken
Of surfaces. Good walking shoes with rubber soles strongly suggested.

We have a good stay in Homa hotel with my wife , my son . All of the staff of hotel were very kind and helpful. The lobby was very large and beautiful. At the evening and night you can listen to playing piano in the lobby. The other important thing was the honesty and safekeeping of the staff of the hotel. I miss my mobile phone on the table beside the elevator that made me realy worry but the next morning they found it and gave it to me.
The quality of the meal of the restaurant was great.

I was a bit worried about this Hotel from the other reviews on the web. But its a great Hotel and great people. It is the former Sherton in Tehran, so it is still got the 70's design from that time. Nice and clean rooms and great loby and reception area! Hotel staff are very nice and want to help you. Only drawback is the breakfast, it is bad for this 4 or 5 star hotel in Tehran. They can do much better. I do not understand why the breakfast is so poor and so poorly served. Maybe because its free for Hotel guests?? Hope they can sort it out soon. Also, Do not have dinner at the roof top resturant, is not nice and expensive; go out and you will get great Food outside.

Hello, my friends, I have been staying at Homa Hotel in Tehran for about ten days, a hotel with beautiful and traditional Iranian architecture that gives me peace, and in the Golestan restaurant of the hotel, a variety of Iranian and European foods are served, with the best taste, this hotel is the most different hotel in my opinion. It is the level of Tehran, of course, Homa Hotel has branches in the five major cities of Iran. I really enjoyed the way the hotel staff treated me, thank you.

I arrived to see the doorman yelling at an older gentlemen who was dropping off musical equipment for an event. It was such a disgusting display of classism and disrespect that I can't in good conscience recommend this hotel to anyone. Iranians are famous for respecting their elders, and so this scene was particularly jarring. I spoke out on behalf of the gentlemen to the hotel manager who immediately brushed me off. Failing even to pretend to listen to my legitimate concern has led me to write this review. Tehran is full of hotels with polite and friendly staff, why waste your time and dignity at this embarrassing excuse for hospitality?

I stayed in this hotel about one week ago. The building is in terrible situation, dirty rooms, dirty towels, dirty carpet. Bathroom was too dirty .
The cups and tea spoon in the room was dirty!!
If you want to find real meaning of (lack of management) you should stay there for a night.

I was felt very unpleasent during the hotel leaving.
I checked out earlier and was just leaving the hotel when I was accused by the nervous porter about leaving without payment.
My clarifications didn't work and to go to the cash-desk where someone tried to find my bill. Finally astonished cashier noticed that it was payed.

Stayed there for few days. It is luxury hotel but very very old. Seems like last 40 year there was no renovation at all.
At the same time it is good place to stay. Rooms are ok. Food is excellent.
There is one of several places in Tehran where you can have a lunch during Ramadan.
Location is ok. Prices are reasonable.
