- there is a restaurant, not just for breakfast
- some of the time there seemed to be a bellman (to help with bags)
Location is great. Riyadh is sprawling, and this hotel is across the road from a big mall and other places to eat. Just be aware that the property has signage on Olaya street, and uses that in its name. However, there is no entrance on Olaya street - access by car and foot is on the street to the rear.
One further nice feature, which I haven't seen before, was the option to buy early or late check in/out before arrival. Given the flight timings at RUH, that's a great option and very fairly priced.
However, on the negative side there is a lot of construction work going on nearby.
Despite a lot of the rooms on my floor having "do not disturb" signs up, as I know several including myself were working nights nearby, they decided to drill and hammer very loudly on work within the hotel on several days and from early morning!
Also floor 6 is, I believe a smoking floor. At least my room stunk like a 70s pub, making all my possessions smell it was that bad.
Positives - the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast ok taking into account some of the 'varied taste' items available. But this is Saudi so I didn't expect a traditional full English or continental pastries, although some of these items were available.
it is next to the financial district and very close to the malls, but these mall does not offer typical restaurants and bit food courts but only the bare minimum. In the evening, it is not pedestrian friendly or offers many restaurants.
Check-in experience,
Basic inline with the ibis offer, very lean and straightforward, in advance payment is requested.
Room,
Quite Basic, in line with the ibis offer, very lean and small rooms. I found air-conditioning is a bit aged and loud but not noisy in general. It is clean
Breakfast,
Quite simple again, in line with 2-3 star hotel offers, clean, nice venue.
I wanted to be in the downtown Olaya area but hotels there were in the £200 - £300 +++ range. Other than the IBIS which came in at £80 a night.
The IBIS room was better than standard IBIS fare I have seen in the UK and Europe - ie larger, and better equipped with safe and tea & coffee making facilities.
But what makes this hotel really stand out was the helpfulness and welcome of front of house staff. Nothing was too much trouble - and they were patient and courteous dealing with my various queries and requests, writing out place names in Arabic, explaining how to get to places, nearest places to buy water and snacks etc.
The hotel's guests were overwhelmingly people on business rather than tourists. However, I can unreservedly recommend this hotel to visitors to Saudi Arabia travelling for tourism. I say this as a solo female traveller.
Top tips:
- there is an Asian run convenience store round the corner five minutes walk away that does not involve crossing roads!!
- have tbe hotel breakfast as there's not much around by way of cafes etc (unless you go to a mall)
- download the Kareem app (= Saudi Uber) for safe, convenient and cheap taxis
- if you have a choice, avoid Room 122 as it was on the first floor and overlooked two air conditioning units and tbe wall 😉 - not that matters in the scheme of things. However, a room on a high floor with views of Kingdom Tower must be pretty awesome
The hotel has all the amenities you need, is quiet and the bed very comfortable. We highly recommend them for your stay in Riyadh.
A supermarket and pharmacy are nearby as well as a hot bread shop and the kingdom centre is a few minutes walk away too.
We definitely will be booking them for our next visit to Saudi Arabia later this year!
Close to the shopping malls, quite good view from the window. I recommend.
While some of the front desk staffs were quite helpful, others were not. One example is that I was told by staff A in the morning that it was possible to change foreign currency into SAR and I should come back in the afternoon as they did not have enough cash .. guess what? I turned up in the afternoon and I was told that they can't exchange foreign currency despite being told otherwise!
Example 2! My colleague got a room which had a strong cigarette smell which came out of the aeration pipelines. We requested the staff to check this matter and the best they did was to get a staff to spray some perfume in the room. My colleague happened to have a very fragile health and thus, we requested that he could change rooms but the front office staff vehemently said this is not possible! My colleague got stuck in a room with a deteriorating health for 3 weeks in that room!
Now let's talk about the facilities .. the gym is seriously poor as they have almost nothing which is a shame for a hotel of that 'stature' .
The only good thing about Ibis Riyadh is the location as it is close-by to the Kingdom Tower area but that does not compensate for the terrible 3 weeks we had there ...

You get what you pay for but it is more than adequate for short to medium visits and being right opposite the Kingdom Centre you are a stones throw from multiple low through to high end dining options.
Excellent and my immediate choice for accommodation in Riyadh
Also, they have dedicated parking for the hotel secured by CCTV cameras (although its very safe area) and the hotel located infront of The Kingdom Tower / Mall and at Alolaya street which is prime location for cafes and businesses.
I will never consider any other hotel when I'm visiting Riyadh next time, its cost effective and for me its 5 stars facility.
To be fair, the restaurant/cafe is normal compared to other 5 stars hotel but for biz trip its more than enough.
