I've spent just one night at the guest house and 7 nights at the youth hostel in the same building - the difference is dramatic! Room was newly renovated, super clean bathroom with marble tiling, comfortable beds, great side view of the city (also not too much sun, but just enough), privacy guaranteed as it was a corner room. Other...

This is a hotel overlooking Old City in Jerusalem. Rooms are very comfortable and clean, and most sights are within walking distance....Sleeping quality on their beds was excellent for me after three weeks of hectic time in southern Israel..Food was very good, and each floor has a lobby where you can serve yourself a sip of coffee or tea...do emails...wireless...

The very best location in Jerusalem and a real bargain! The hotel rooms (not the hostel rooms) are designed by the same guy as the Citadel Hotel next door and the views of the Old City are better than at the King David. An Israeli breakfast is included. While there is no bar or room service, you can easily walk...

we stayed in beit shmuel for four nights and found the hotel to be very accommodating and the staff attentive. any problem that we had was taken care of right away and done with a smile. the food was good, rooms were clean and what can you say when you wake up to the view of the old city...

The Beit Shmuel centre seems to have a mixture of arts areas, hostel, and hotel. The hotel room we had - overlooking a building site and further the old city, was perfectly good. The building itself is actually quite nice, with an internal open courtyard. The location is literally 200m from the old city, so if that matters to you,...

We have stayed at Beit Shmuel before, and might very well do so again, but only because Jerusalem hotels are very expensive and this one, in a terrific location (within easy walking distance of the Old City), is within our budget. This time we stayed in a "renovated hostel room", which cost us over $200 per night for a family...

The Merkaz Shimshon-Beit Shmuel complex is a property that houses offices and activities for the World Union for Progressive Judaism. There is a hostel (the Beit Shmuel hostel) as well as a separately-located floor of hotel rooms. We stayed in one of the hotel rooms. These are located across the courtyard from the reception desk (opposite side of the complex...

This is not a hotel but a Youth Hostel with a couple of hotel rooms. After a day in the desert, there was no hot water and poo was coming up the sink. They sent a plumber but couldn't fix it and other guests were coming downstairs to complain. They said they were moving us to an apartment for our...

My husband and I and another couple stayed in the King David apartment for one night in November. The apartment is actually located in an adjacent building to the HUC campus. This meant no wifi. Also, there is no breakfast included with this unit. The furnishings were spartan, but otherwise it was reasonably clean and adequate for a short stay....

Basic but nice, large room. Very dark as there is not enough lighting; we had to move a floor lamp over to the desk just to see our computer. Nice bathroom although the plug did not work so I had to dry my hair without a mirror in the bedroom. We heard "thumping" every evening. Upon exploring we discovered that...

“Not sure if it's worth paying extra for a renovated hostel room - they don't seem that much nicer than what I remember the regular hostel rooms looking like.”

“Make sure you're booking the HOTEL and not the hostel or guest house. Apparently, there is room for confusion on this point. And if you want any of the offered discounts, contact the hotel directly rather than using the "Booking by Click" link on the website.”
