Once you have stayed here you cannot ever stay any where else in Jerusalem - its that lovely - dripping with history. Staff discrete and helpful. Old fashioned but all the better for that. Surprisingly good value if you shop around on the likes of booking.com and limit yourself to the basic rooms which are very comfortable. Make sure the...

We visited the Colony on a recommendation from a local. Having only just arrived it took us minutes to bump into several US journalists. The bar is a speakeasy style, comfortable hideout with an excellent choice of cocktails (the salty dog was great). Waiters are thoughtful but not overbearing. A must if you are in the old town-we certainly hope...

As a luxury travel writer for world-adventurer.com I've stayed in many luxury boutiques. The American Colony Hotel, a member of the LHW, has an impressive history and has maintained the tradition of providing safe, quality stays to foreign and local guests alike. The building from the late 1800s became a hotel in the early 1900s. Explore the hotel and history...

I visited the American Colony with a friend out of curiosity having heard a little bit of the history of the place. We were charmed by the beautiful courtyard garden and were treated to excellent service as drop-in visitors. The grounds are inviting and tranquil. Based on our limited experience I would arrange to stay here on my next visit...

I stayed at the American Colony for a second time in August 2014. The hotel is a journalist favorite so the American Colony was still packed with foreign visitors at a time when foreign travel to Israel was very limited. On this visit I stayed in the Main House in a Standard Room. It was slightly smaller than the Pasha...

I book a four day stay at the American Colony Hotel after I read that it was one of a thousand places in the world that needs to be seen. They were right. The hotel is fantastic. The service was great and the food was authentic Arabic food with all it glamour.I would highly recommend it.

We had a fantastic 4 night stay at this landmark hotel and could not fault it. We found the location ideal and we could easily walk down the streets to the Damascus or Herod Gates to enter the Old City. The grounds are lovely with private gardens dotted around and the pool area was a great place to relax. We...

The hotel itself looks nice, but: - it's impossible to get a coffee at breakfast. Staff ignore you. - the garden looks nice to eat in, but it's filled with smokers. - the hallways echo and the walls are thin. Expect to be woken up in the morning with staff talking loudly, banging carts etc. - If you don't hang...

If I make another sojourn to Israel, this is where I want to stay. Wandering through the Jerusalem streets on a crisp summer evening, we came upon this classy, inviting, and beautifully designed area that looked like it came out of a movie set. Opulent furniture, white tablecloths, and inviting patio gardens. It has become the number one contender for...

Really great food. The restaurant (patio) has a lot of healthy options that seem like 'Middle eastern fusion food' - if such a thing exists - more elaborate versions of traditional Middle eastern dishes cooked in a healthier way. They were really responsive to specializing the order, and were very conscious about using little olive oil in the cooking upon...
