By all means stay at the American Colony Hotel. Don't go just because Churchill stayed here, or because TE Lawrence slept here. Yes, it is filled with history. It also has an elevator probably used by Lawrence. The architecture and style of the hotel are worth a visit. True, the bathroom is much like Churchill's day, but he must have...

It was really great weekend we stayed at American Colony hotel. Its rooms, staff and charming atmosphere were all really nice. Pricing is much more than average, but it is really worth of having it as a spot in Jerusalem. :)

We loved that the hotel because of its lovely courtyard, swimming pool and friendly staff. It is walking distance from the old town. The rooms are slightly on the old fashion way (i.e. not the usual luxury marble bathrooms) but they work perfectly.

Better than four stars, but not quite five stars. The American Colony in Jerusalem is a lovely property, well situated on French Hill at the edge of the Arab Quarter. The rooms are in a series of buildings (each of which maintains the ambience of the hotel) and there is a nice outdoor pool. The staff is attentive and helpful,...

I feel hoteliers wondering how to find the magic ingredient of customer service have only to come to the American Colony to see how it is done. Relaxed,...

We stayed at the American colony for a 3 day visit to jerusalem and had an excellent experience. Rooms were nice, staff friendly and helpful and excellent breakfast. Nice atmosphere. Only slightly negative aspect is that it is not too close to the old city so you need a taxi to move to and from the hotel during the day...

I had wanted to stay in the American Colony after reading about the building's history in Montefiore's "Jerusalem." It's a terrific place with lots of character. The original building is >100 years old and decorated in an Oriental style. To give you a sense of how appealing it is, there was a film crew shooting a movie there during our...
