As most of the other reviewers have suggested the greatest asset of the hotel is its location. Most of the well-known attractions are within 10-15 minutes walking distance while the tram station is only 3 minutes away. The hotel itself is old but it is in good condition. The staff were very helpful even though their English are very basic....

We stayed here for two nights. We stay at this hotel due to its location and convenience. It is walking distance to most of the tourist attractions in Fatih/Sultanahmet district (i.e., Topkapi Palace (6 minutes), Hagia Sophia (12 minutes), Blue Mosque (18 minutes), Grand Bazaar (15 minutes), Spice Bazaar (15 minutes) [varies by your walking speed.]). There are a lot...

The hotel is in Sirkeci, which is a great location both for the historical centre of Istanbul and for starting to explore the bigger city, because all the transportation is really close. We stayed there in a triple room (3 adults) in the beginning of May 2014. The room was actually equipped with 1 double bed and 2 single beds....

The location of this hotel is great, very close to old city attractions and Sirkeci tram stop. The room was tiny, no space for anything besides the bed. Breakfast spread was adequate. Staff was not helpful at all, didn't give us any tips. It was quite noisy at night. But that's old city for you. I would like to contrast...

Small hotel and rooms are okay. Close to city and walking distance to the Mosque and restaurants. Ataruk airport is ~30 min and Mr. Victori is nice and gave us free transfer. Breakfast is okay not bad to start the day.

I agree the location advantages. However, disadvantages are overweighing. Too much noisy, many areas need renovation. Breakfast is not so attractive and very narrow area makes it almost a torture to get few things on your plate. If you spent 50 TRYs more per person you can find much more comfortable good otels nearby. I wouldn't choose The same hotel...

this review is long overdue, I've stayed in viva hotel twice already and am very willing to stay there again during my next visit to Istanbul; the location is fantastic, the hotel is clean, you get your money's worth and the staff is very friendly! as a matter of fact I might go back just for the staff! the only...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
