Went at the beginning of April for a short stay. The staff at the hotel sorted out a taxi/ minibus to pick us up from the airport and one to take us back again, I would do this again as sorting out taxis ourselves would have stretched our very limited Turkish. Also, this stopped us being ripped off. The young...

This is a small 6 bedroom hotel in the heart of the old section of Istambul less than 5 minutes from the Blue Mosque. The rooms are a fair size for Europe with extremely comfortable beds. A good breakfast is included with the room and the staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and provide all the assistance a tourist will needs....

I loved this hotel. The location is great, but so are many hotels in the old city area. The hotel was immaculate, the staff helpful and friendly without overdoing it and the food was great--they offer a free breakfast in their comfortable lobby. We stayed for three nights, so were eligible for free airport pickup. We had a problem with...

I've just returned from three nights in Istanbul at the Hotel Apricot. I'm so glad that I found this hotel for my visit. Communication was excellent from the first contact--Goskel was a fabulous host when we arrived. He provided suggestions on everything from what to visit (and when) to restaurants to safety. He repeatedly went out of his way to...

We stayed here at the end of our trip. It's in a great location, just down from a small market, behind the Blue Mosque. They have another new location, we didn't see that one. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are nice. Our room was a bit cramped but clean and quiet with a good shower. It...

We stayed at this great B&B for 11 nights. Three nights in room 3 which had a great King size bed but the room was a bit small. .We spent 8 nights in room 1 which not only had a great King size bed but also a front room and a large bathroom with a Turkish tub. The room was...

My friend & I stayed at the Apricot Hotel for 3 nights in February. The hotel is on a lovely cobble stone street about 5 minutes walk from the Blue Mosque, and only minutes walk to shops, restaurants & bazaars. From the hotel we were also able to walk to Haghia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and lots of other places -...

stayed there over spring break with my family. Excellent location, right behind the blue mosque and close to almost all the sights one would want to see, and wonderful staff. Great place if you want to meet fellow travels. Beds were comfortable and the breakfast was good. Goskel at the front desk was immensely helpful. He guided us about where...

For a small hotel with less than 10 rooms the staff goes all out for their guests including breakfast 2 hours early when we had an early flight, offering a refrigerator for our room, and providing us with fresh coffee or tea at any time we came in the door. I was also walked over to a carpet shop where...

My husband and I recently spend five nights here in Room 4. We had a spacious room and a nice bathroom. Our room was furnished with a double bed, a wardrobe, a small tv, a chair, and a love seat. The staff had good suggestions regarding sightseeing, restaurants and shopping. We were pleased with the location because most of the...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
