Marmara Guesthouse is lovely. The breakfast spread leaves no traveller hungry and the rooftop terrace makes for a great place to relax and get away from the busy streets. Walking distance to many of the main sites in the old city. Air con and wifi, can't ask for much more. Airport shuttle service, friendly staff and clean rooms make for...

This friendly, family run hotel in the heart of Istanbul is just fantastic. Their advice is accurate and helpful. It is close to Sultanahmet, the heart of old Istanbul, close to public transport and all the major sights. The rooms are a reasonable size and very affordable. Not to mention it includes a great buffet breakfast, free WiFi, cheap self...

This is a treasure of a place to stay. The people working there are warm and genuine, not at all overbearing and brilliantly helpful. It is a family business and feels that way. Great location in Sultanahmet with a very helpful staff. Great breakfast, the crepes were delicious, and a wonderful rooftop terrace. Our room was clean and quiet with a nice view. Within easy walking distance to most of the great sights in Sultanahmet.

We stayed at the Marmara Guesthouse in Istanbul and were very satisfied overall with our stay. The location was perfect (just a hop and a skip from the main attractions). It was quiet and clean and all their staff were extremely helpful and courteous. A good value in Sultanahmet! David Radelet and Miriam Dominguez

My wife and I stayed at the guesthouse for a week in August. It was incredibly convenient to everything. Elif and family were wonderful hosts- so naturally friendly. They made all arrangements we asked them to, making reservations easy. Breakfast was great on the roof terrace. The only downside was that we probably should have requested a ground floor room,...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
