We booked a double and a triple room, both with ensuite bathrooms but we had a big surprise upon our arrival: the leady at the reception told us that they have no triple room available, at least for the first night, because some other tourist prolonged their journey. It seemed fair to me that those tourists should have received a...

I stopped in this hotel for only three nights, while on my way to Nepal via turkey and the emirates. My room was small, but super clean and very comfortable with a large bed, nice matress, tv, and a good internet connection but the real plus of this small hotel is its incredible location, (a 3 minutes walk away from...

Perfect location for sight seeing. It is definitely worth spending the extra money to get the second floor rooms with balcony and amazing views of the mosque and the Bosporus. Yes the rooms are small and the bathroom smaller but the balcony, the friendliness of the staff and the great breakfast make it an excellent experience.

We visited the Sultanahmet hotel in June. It is, as it says, 10 metres from the tram stop at Sultanahmet. We had an interior room but it was spacious and adequate. The main bonus was the roof terrace where we could sit at any time- taking our own drinks/ food. It has benches, chairs and sun loungers. It was ideal...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
