We stayed at Faros Hotel at the end of January, 2011 for 4 nights. There was our 2-nd time in this hotel (the first was last year). Faros offer a free transfer from and to Ataturk airport. Last time our flight to Istanbul was delayed for 4 hours, so we were sure nobody met us because we arrived late at...

Overall a very pleasant stay. The internet rate was good and included return transfers to/fro airport which was very handy. Being picked up from airport is really useful especially if this is 1st visit to Istanbul as the taxi queues etc are confusing and language is a problem as not everyone speaks English. The hotel is on Divan Yolu right...

The Faros Hotel in the Sultanahmet area was a great choice. We booked a family room and we were assigned a corner room - it was spacious, clean, confortable with a "twist"- nice drapery colors, confortable king size bed, wooden floor, mini fridge with plenty of drinks, complimentary bottled water. Corner rooms are good for families of three. Our friends...

We stayed with our 5 month old daughter at the Hotel Faros, Sultanahmet, for 14 nights to develop new business contacts in Istanbul. The hotel arranged for us to be picked up at the airport terminal by minibus on our arrival. We were welcomed by the staff and given info about the various tourist attractions/trips. The room was very clean....

I am a frequent traveller and was overwhelmed by the service at the Faros Hotel. I have and will continue to recommend this hotel highly to anyone. The Faros Hotel is definitely a reason to come back to Istanbul. We loved it! I stayed at the hotel for eleven nights and after excessive noise from a party across the street...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
