My fiance and I spent three nights at this hotel at the end of April and we couldn't have been more content. The hosts were really friendly and helpful. We got great recommendations for food and sight-seeing and it all felt really homey. And the view was incredible: the Blue Mosque on the one side of the room and Hagia...

I just got back from a week in Istanbul staying at this charming guesthouse. The people who run this hotel are kindness itself- totally charming. After a long delay at the airport we arrived at 1 in the morning but it was no trouble we were greeted with warmth which was typical of our stay. The hotel is well located...

In 2006 my husband and I found the Terrace via Tom Brosnahan's TurkeyTravelPlanner website as a very welcome discovery. We had been searching for a place where we would be comfortable and never need look for another hotel. We had tried four others in the search for a place to become a home away from home in frequent trips to...

I absolutely loved this hotel. It was homely. The hosts were great. The location was incomparable. What else can I say. I adored the housekeeper who served us breakfast everyday. I really wished I spoke Turkish.

This review is a little late in reaching the Trip Advisor site. I visited Istanbul in August 2011. I'm now researching for my next trip to Turkey, and thought I should share some of my experience with the TA world. I reserved a room at the Terrace Guesthouse at the recommendation of my new son-in-law, and he wins points for...

We stayed twice - during a four week visit to Turkey and Greece. The first time, we felt like we were in their very best room. Then, when we returned a few weeks later, we discovered that EVERY room in the place is unique and very special in its own way. The small and extremely professional staff create a family,...

My first visit was in 2004/2005. I was so delighted with that too-short stay that I didn't consider any other options when planning this trip. When you stay here, you'll quickly see why "guesthouse" is the right label. There are only eight rooms (two per floor) and each has its own character. If you love carpets from that region, you...

after 8 or more visits, by our selves and with many friends, we still consider the Terrace the only place we would want to stay in Istanbul. The staff could not be more helpful in all respects. The views from the breakfast room and rooftop terrace of the Bosphorus, Aya Sophia, and the Blue Mosque are spectacular. The rooms are...

My favorite hotel in Istanbul. It is located near to Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque, in the historical center of Istanbul. You have a beutiful view from the breakfast room and the rooftop. The rooms are nice and clean. Dogan and his staff are very helpful. Highly recomended. You feel like home. Would definitly stay there again.

We just had our 6th stay over a decade at Terrace Guesthouse which has made trips to Istanbul like going home. Dogan and his staff are go-to people who can arrange and advise any aspect of visiting Istanbul and the rest of Turkey. The owner grew up in the neighborhood and has a real window into its history. The hotel...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
