Hotel staff did not honor the reservation (booked double room with sea view got single room overlooking street). Noisy environment from loud music in nearby restaurant. Room was smelly and humid with mold in shower and peeling wall paint with hair and toothpaste stuck on tiles above the sink. The shower did not drain properly. Breakfast consisted of half sliced...

Chose this spot because I was travelling with my sister who had never been to Istanbul and struggles generally with stairs. They have a lift-accessible rooftop and a very short walk to everything Sultanahmet has to offer. The brekkie was sub-standard but many rooms in this location are anyway. If you like boiled eggs you'll be fine. Room was spacious,...

The location is perfect, the rooms are basic but clean and well serviced. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is a disaster. Be warned, they will insist on being paid in cash. Having said all that - the location cancels all the negative points, the hotel really is in the heart of it all !

The hotel is superb in location. Few steps away from Sultanahmed Mosque or Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. In front of it is Arasta Bazaar the food place and variety shops. Groceries is nearby about 100 meter away on the left. I get here by train from the Attartuk Airport, changing at Zetinburnyu towards Kabatas by getting off at Sultanahmed....

WONDERFUL location. Literally 5 minutes from Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi, Mosaic Museum, Hippodrome, Cistern. Fun touristy neighborhood. Elevator serves all floors. Rooms clean and basic; toasty warm in December snow and also have their own AC. Staff were nice and friendly, very helpful with a little language barrier. They want/require to be paid in cash (Turkish Lira) rather than...

I got to the hotel and was told my room would be ready in 20 minutes. I waited a whole 90 minutes in the with a swollen faced manager. When I asked if my room was ready he barked that it was ready 30 minutes prior. When I got to my room, the lights didn't work, there was water all...

This is an old historic Armanian house that has been converted to a hotel. Not many rooms which is nice. Very safe feeling here. I am a woman travelling alone and I never felt unsafe in the hotel or the city. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and will do everything in their power to make your stay wonderful....

The location of the hotel is very good, next to the blue mosque! The rooms are pretty small with old fashioned furniture. The restaurant is on the top floor with a nice view over the mosque and river. The breakfast is nice with bread and cheese, cucumber, sausage and tomato along with jam. They also serve nice Turkish tea. I...

Having lived in Istanbul for five years previously I returned the city after 18 years with my wife. Askin Hotel made us very welcomed. They were very friendly and easy going. The room was descent, although shower head was static and it leaked a bit when worked. The room and bathroom were clean and the cleanliness was maintained daily. The...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
