Hotel Peninsula is a very nice hotel, with spacy and clean beautiful rooms, as well as beautiful view from it's terrace. The most important thing, though, is the great kindness of the people, who are ready to help you and make you feel really convenient. I still miss our conversation during the breakfast time! Me and my friends recommend the...

We have just returned from a week at the Hotel Pininsula, a great experience from start to finish. friendly e-mails, airport taxi service, and in our case 2 adjoining en suite rooms for a family of 4. The Peninsula is comfortable, and ideally located for the major sites, a great selection at breakfast helped get each day off to a...

My wife and I had originally booked to spend two nights at the Peninsula Hotel in Istanbul in October 2008. When we booked in we were warmly welcomed by Huseyin Gultekin. His staff were friendly and most helpful to us during our stay there. On Friday 17th October we booked out and took the tram to the airport for our...

Me and my husband stayed there for 10 nights. The location is convenient for all sightseeings (Hippodrome, Blue Mosque etc. within 5 minute walking distance) and also for public transport, if you want to travel anywhere in Istanbul. Excellent service and very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are quiet small but nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is served on the...

After 3 miserable nights at the Tulip Guesthouse (my friends had booked everything in advance, on line) just a block away, I was able to get into this lovely hotel. For the same price!! Everyone was so helpful, and the rooms were lovely. It was such a pleasure to stay here.

I arrived in Istanbul alone and unsure and was greeted by the one of the kindest people I have ever met. Thr hotel arranged my pick up and although the plane was two hours late he was in a great mood and very welcoming (did I mention it was 1 in the morning). Overall my stay here was fabulous. I...

Arrived in Istanbul and was picked up at airport. Hotel is located right in the middle of Sultanahmet. It's 5 minute walk to Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia, with views of the same, from the roof and the Sea of Marmara. Rooms were spotless, warm and comfortable. Showers and toilets both worked ( I know it is expected but not always...

Fantastic location, great value for money and friendly/helpful staff. Istanbul is an amazing place, but the feet get tired. The Peninsula is within easy reach of all of the big treasures but is itself tucked in the end of a dead end street. Quiet but a block away form the heart of the action. The rooftop is a wonderful place...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to the Hotel Peninsula in Istanbul. We are a small boutique hotel, nestled quietly at the end of leafy laneway. We are nestled amount this city’s great historical landmarks and you will instantly transport your mind heart upon arrival. When you go to buy your morning paper, you stroll past our 489 year old Turkish Hamam, tangled with vines and moss. This truly is an immersion into an oriental parallel, and we are pleased to be able to offer you warm, friendly accommodation during your journey here. The Peninsula has become a cultural institution over the years and we look forward (“wait with four eyes” in Turkish) to welcoming you to our extended family. ... more   less
