We stayed 15 days in hotel Zeynep Sultan and only have good words for the hotel. Very helpful staff, especially Yusuf who helps with every information you would want about trips, etc. Now 15 days is a longer time than most tourists in Istanbul do. Therefore you would need a good room and a good bathroom for such a period. The...

Absolutely great location on a very quiet street without traffic about two blocks from the entrance to Hagia Sophia. Our room was very quiet except for the call to prayer. But, we must have been very tired because after the first morning we slept through the morning call to prayer. They have a terrace that has a very nice view...

This is a reasonably priced boutique hotel in a good location. We stayed here for a few nights because we planned on site seeing most of the time and just wanted a hotel to sleep and get breakfast at. The place is great for that purpose. No frills accommodations with a free breakfast (love the simits) right in the heart...

A small family run hotel, where nothing was to much trouble, the bathroom was smallish but more than adequate. The breakfast/Bar had both indoor and outdoor areas with wonderful views, particulary of the Aya Sophia. Comp internet a bonus. Good shoping in the local area and good restaurants of all price stuctures.

Very nice and clean hotel with perfect location and beautiful views. The service was good, althogh I have some notes about their manager) The manager promised to help me with ferry+train tickets to Izmir, but suddenly simply forgot about that and went to check that out when we have already arrived to Istanbul. As soon as it was a high...

The hotel is in Sultanahmet, which is the touristy area of Istanbul, and is close (5 minute walk) from Blue Mosque, Spice Bazaar, Grand Bazaar, so good area to walk around. Rooms are small, but everything is clean, air con, tv, minibar and thats about it. No safe in room (perhaps they have one in reception?) Free wireless internet through...

This hotel had the perfect location as it is a stones through from the Hagia Sophia Museum. The biggest problem was the mosque next door which started their singing at ~4:45am, however we didn't get to concerned with it as we used it as an early morning bathroom break. The hotel had a modest breakfast which was free so we...

Taking into account the prices and size of most hotels in Istanbul we thought this was great value. The room wasn't very big, and the bathroom even smaller but it more than fit us and our backpacks. Was fine for us who were out sightseeing and needed a comfy quiet place to sleep. The key things for us were double...

This hotel is simply perfect. Don't expect luxuries but for a reasonable price you will be hosted in an exceptionally well managed hotel. Rooms and bathroom (the latter a bit small, though, maybe a standard in Istanbul) are very clean and hotel staff is very helpful. We had no problems at all and they help us with all our needs....

This little hidden gem of a hotel was the star of our month-long stay in Turkey. Emre and his staff are easily the most helpful hotel employees I've ever dealt with. Emre himself walked with me to a camera shop and negotiated me a much better price, which was more than any hotel owner has ever done for me. It...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The cradle of civilization...Turkey...From Hitites to Urartus, Phrygians to Lycians, from Romans to Seljuks...They all lived here. A city that gave birth to and fostered three glorious empires...The East Roman empire, the Byzantine empire and the Ottoman empire...Once the capital city of these empires, Istanbul is still alive and breathing a mystical blend of air, weary of the contemprary urbanization and cultural clashes. Zeynep Sultan Hotel is where you will blend a magical potion from a Roman hippodrome, an Egyptian obelisque, a Byzantine Church and an Ottoman Grand Bazaar. And maybe you will top it with the Blue Mosque or the Topkapi Palace... ... more   less
