Stayed there for three nights. The hotel can easily be reached via metro (Takism) as it's very close to Taksim square and Istiklal. The staff are friendly, and the owner "Rami" was there when I reached the hotel and was very helpful. My room was tiny but I already knew that through the room description and was booked at a...

Booked a single room online for two nights, literally as I arrived at the airport, a couple of hours before I got to the hotel. Specifically requested a quiet room, but was put in one facing the street on the 2nd floor - the street noise from the square was extreme and I woke up constantly from screaming/honking cars. This...

Finding the hotel for the first time was a little frustrating but the fact I had been awake for over 30 hours probably had something to do with that. Thereafter, no problems whatsoever. Quite frankly, it's in a convenient and central location. Only steps away from the Taksim Metro, Istiklal Street and excellent restaurants. Lots of activity in the immediate...

We had a great time staying here. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was conveniently close to the busy streets but isolated enough that it was quiet at night. Highly recommended for couples getaway

Most importantly was the location, in the middle of it all. Taksim square with access to all conveniences. for the price and value, I...

This hotel exceeded our expectations. It should be rated a 4 star hotel. The room is superb and clean. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They even gave us a map and told us what can be done and how and where to go to get there. I'll always come back here when visiting Istanbul!

We stayed at the Retropera Hotel for a prolonged weekend. The rooms are nice, clean and modern. The location is good to visit Istanbul. BUT the biggest asset of this hotel is the staff which is super friendly and never short of good tips to visit the city. Highly recommended!

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
