I was visiting Istanbul for the first time, to attend a conference. As I was self-funding, I needed a self-catering, medium priced place to stay which was not too far from the venue (the Military Museum). At Leda Flats I had a spacious room with a good sized en suite bathroom and a firm bed, as I had requested. The...

This is a new hotel business--only about a year old (but not a new building)--and it shows. The owners are not seasoned in taking care of guests. They didn't have enough pillows, nor shampoo and they kept coming into our apartment while we were gone, either to take back an extra pillow we had asked for or to take a...

As we were bringing our grown up daughter with us, we chose this property as it had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We could not believe the space and it was definately home from home - extremely comfortable and although we had a couple of minor problems, they were rectified by Orcun more or less immediately. We found Orcun extremely...

I went to Istanbul with my family for a family/business 2-weeks trip, and it started on the wrong foot at the first night in a place that I don't want to remember its name, it was a fraud. The next morning my wife found Leda Flats on the internet, and we met Leda and Orçun (pronounced: Orchoun), very friendly fellows...

What a wonderful place to stay when visiting Istanbul – highly recommended! The apartments are very spacious, well furnished, extremely clean and proved to be very much a home from home experience. They are ideally located for visits to the city and boast numerous restaurants very close by. We had the top floor apartment during our visit in August and...

Staying in Sisli

Neighbourhood Profile
Sisli
For much of Istanbul’s history, Sisli and the area just north of Taksim Square were open countryside used mostly as hunting grounds. These days, Sisli and its chic streets are considered the very heart of contemporary Istanbuli life, where an epicenter of fashion and a thriving business district meet to create an expressly “downtown” feel. Though largely a residential neighborhood, luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, and upscale shops abound with many of them situated inside or nearby Cevahir Istanbul, the biggest shopping mall in Europe and second biggest urban shopping mall in the world. Shopaholics and fashionistas travel from near and far to browse the area's mix of major global brand items and creations by popular Turkish designers.

“Istanbul is a busy, noisy city until late at night and the dawn call to prayer (over PA systems) may wake you sooner than you would like -- ask for a room towards the back if you are a light sleeper.”
