I stayed in TashKonak with my mother for 4 nights during our first visit to Istanbul. The staff: very friendly, excellent English, extremely helpful in offering visits and advice on what to do in a non-intrusive way, ready with a smile. The rooms: As you'd expect for a 3-star, comfortable firm beds, good pillows, very clean with daily maid and... More

Tashkonak was the miracle that saved our trip to this beautiful city, after an unfortunate experience with another hotel. The staff is professional, friendly, helpful and with a great sense of humor - they make you feel like home. Spectacular views from the rooftop, excellent afternoons in the hotel’s beautifull small garden, great location in the heart of Istanbul. Tashkonak... More

I booked this hotel because of the good reviews I read here in tripadvisor and simply because they are prompt in replying to all my query. I'm happy I did. :) It is a small hotel but they have everything you need. Walking distance to the tourist spots like Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque and there's a lot of restaurants... More

I prefer small, family-run hotels like the Tashkonak. The hotel is a short walk from the Blue Mosque and other major sites with convenient bus connections to other parts of Istanbul. The staff was very helpful in answering questions, recommending neighborhood restaurants (the nearby Cesme restaurant is excellent), and working with us on car rental problems. The roof top restaurant... More

We spent four nights here on a recent trip to Istanbul. We were very happy with our choice of hotel. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. The rooms were a great size, ours had a couch and small table. The bathroom was clean and very modern. Breakfast is included and served on the roof top which has great views... More

Tashkonak is the perfect place to stay in a bustling city like Istanbul. After a noisy and over-stimulating day, nothing could be better than to return to this hotel for rest and relaxation. The staff could not be more accommodating and friendly; the garden is a delight; the room is comfortable with plenty of hot water and the breakfast enough... More

We travelled from Cape Town, & our daughters from Seoul & London, for a family reunion in Istanbul. The friendliness & helpfulness of the staff were beyond our expectations - we fell in love with the place! Location is perfect for most attractions & when we were weary from too much sight-seeing, we'd walk back to the hotel for a... More

we spent some days in this small hotel really charming with a cozy and fresh garden that you 'll apreciate mostly after a long visit of the beautiful town of istanbul. everything is really positive about this hotel: position helpfulness of the personal, welcoming, cleaness of the rooms. we had a family room for 5 people, really not easy to... I would echo the sentiments of 'Reasonable Place to Bunk' (April 10th) following our stay at this hotel. Our reception and arrival did not go smoothly even though we were asked to confirm our booking a few days prior to arrival and we provided an arrival time. On arrival (11.40am) we were told there was no record of our booking,... More

Thank you for submitting a review about your stay with us. We have spoken to the receptionist on duty at the time regarding your check-in, which had not been very welcoming. Our receptionist initially misunderstood the pronunciation of your name. However, after looking at your passports and seeing the spelling of your name, he saw your booking was listed. Check... More

I first stayed with a friend in a twin room (in the apartments' section of the hotel), then later stayed on alone in a single room in the hotel proper. Both rooms were impeccably clean, and the one in the apartments' section had an especially cosy bathroom with a bathtub. The staff is very pleasant and speaks good English, free... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
