This hotel has the kindest and most helpful staff Right in the centre of Sultan Ahmet but not noisy, although alway a mosque call in the background. Clean rooms, good choices at breakfast. Suitable for friends, couples, families and singles. I have stayed here on my own and felt very safe Lovely little roof terrace for a glass of wine...

This hotel looks just like one of those houses that got converted into a motel. It is two separate buildings with multiple floors. The rooms are not identical in shape, but very spacious. Rooms are covered with hardwood floors and decor is local and up to date. Bathroom is large and we had a tub in it too. Overall, the...

The day manager Ilhan was exceptionally helpful in every aspect. He treated me as an old friend treats me, down-to-earth, frank, honest and supportive. I'd go back there just to see him again. The small hotel is located in a winding cobble stone street not far from the magnificent Blue Mosque. The floors were hard wood covered with carpets. The...

I think the best part of our stay was the helpful advice given by the staff. They always gave us useful tips including how to avoid being overcharged by taxis, where to shop, what to eat, etc. The room itself was great and the beds were very comfortable. We stayed for 5 nights and our daughter loved it there as...

We travelled to Istanbul with a 4 year old son and stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in March 17-22. We chose Tashkonak hotel because it’s situated within walking distance of all major sightseeing places and just 5 minutes from the sea (Kennedy ave). And you can see the Blue Mosque right from the wonderful terrace which we had...

I had a great view from the balcony,of the Bosphorus and all the mosques. After a long day of wandering the city, it was a nice place to come back to. It was quiet with accommodating and nice staff. The rooms are spacious and air-conditioned. Lots of food (free!), it was great. The TV was boring (not in English) but everything else...

The hotel is at the shadow of blue mosque on a quite street, staff is friendly and internet is good. Tip: there are plenty of travel services around which offer you shuttle service to airport for 5 Euro (or 15 TL) which is also good value for money.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
