A small boutique hotel in the Sultanahmet within walking distance of the Palace, the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofya. The Metro is nearby. This hotel's hospitality is world class and arrangements can be made happily and easily for any type of City tour, or beyond. The front desk is staffed 24/7. The rooms are charming, simply decorated with artwork, hardwood...

I have been lucky in this lifetime to get the opportunity to travel to many countries. I did not write reviews for too many places due to time constraints but now i am finally on a 3 months vacation and i wanted to share my experiences with fellow travelers. Empress Zoe is adjacent to a 500 year old Turkish Bath...

This hotel is exquisite, and is situated in the most beautiful, vibrant city my partner and I have every visited. Before I review this wonderful hotel, I would like to encourage everyone who might be having doubts about visiting Istanbul for safety reasons to put their fears aside and visit this place. Do not let terrorism put you off -...

A standout on the street given the old stones and lovely landscaping with the luscious creepers all over, the hotel contrasts wildly from the rest of the offerings in the area. We stayed two nights in a lovely (albeit small-ish) room with a private terrace overlooking the Bosporus. The room had lots of character and the bathroom was great. I'd...

I am quite a skeptical guest but this hotel completely blew me away. I loved the pictures I saw on booking.com and to my delight the hotel in real life exceeded my expectations. The Wisteria was in full bloom (end of April) and the garden was full of life and colour. The lobby and eating area were so wonderfully decorated...

A lovely little hotel in a fantastic location. It has plenty of charm and having breakfast in the garden with the cat is fantastic. The rooms are quaint and full of personality and the staff very friendly.

Really enjoyed my stay here.... atmospheric hotel, close to all the main sights of Sultanahmet.... my room was small but comfortable, breakfast a delight... would give this hotel a 4, but for Layla the front desk girl, who is an absolute delight, a lovely warm and genuine person who I always enjoyed talking to...she is definitely worth the extra star!

On a return trip to Istanbul, I can't imagine staying anywhere else. In fact, this trip was my third stay at the hotel. I keep returning to the Hotel Empress Zoe because of the friendly, helpful staff, the comfortable rooms, and the lovely garden. In addition to all of this, the breakfasts are healthy, delicious, and fresh! It is also...

My 2 days in Istanbul were planned last-minute, as Turkish Airways changed my return flight from Zanzibar. But, from the moment I'm greeted by Layla, I feel at home here. The lobby area is simply adorable, and a spiral staircase seems like fairytale access to my room on the 2nd floor. I've been upgraded to a larger double (I'd booked...

This is a lovely small unusual characterful Boutique hotel in the middle of the Sultanahmet district of Istanbul a few minutes walk from many of the main attractions. Service was excellent and the breakfast was gorgeous. This is the second time we have stayed there in the past 6 months as it is such a great place. We were lucky...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
