I stayed twice at the Villa Zurich hotel. I like it specially for it's location, just about 10 mns walk from Taksim square and as well pretty close from Istiklal street, Nevizade and most interest sights in Beyoglu-Taksim area. The hotel staff is really nice and helpfull and hotel counts with a great rooftop terrace with excellent views to the...

This hotel is asking for marriage papers for Turkish citizicens. That means everyone who is not married can't stay as a couple there! Boycott this kind of attitude! This kind of attitude shouldn't be tolerlated no where!

The Villa Zurich offers very comfortable, clean rooms with bathroom and pleasant helpful staff. THe hotel is located in a very cosmopolitan area with many cafes, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, galleries and other sights in the area. It is only a 5 minute walk to Taksim square and other public transport / ferry options. The area is very safe and not...

The hotel is cosy and has a beautiful restaurant located on the top floor which offers a breathtaking view of istanbul which I think is the hotels best feature: having breakfast while watching the sunrise over the Bosphorus was amazing. It's a short uphill walk to Taksim Square and maybe the only flaw is that the English level of the...

I was staying there with my parents for a long weekend over Easter. Pretty basic, dated but clean. Staff appear to be rude but that's Istanbul for you. The biggest con was the noise from the restaurant coming from the floor above our room. We couldn't sleep as people were moving chairs, talking loud, etc. It was horrible and they...

The Hotel Villa Zurich is located in a quiet, residential area Cihangir, an area where you'll find famous local and national artists and musicians. Centrally located, only 10 minutes walking distance from Taxim Square and the Galata bridge. A nice and friendly welcome at the small reception, going to any of the 6 floors, where you'll find decent and spacious...

With the exception of the waiter in the breakfast room, the staff at this hotel were appalling - no manners, inappropriate attitude, pushy, rude behavior, in one case even seedy. They try to rip off foreigners by applying some sort of phantasy exchange rate to € and $, when artificially inflating pre-booked rates. The location is nice, but I have...

I've read the other recent reviews and can empathise! I also saw the fire extinguishers holding open the doors and I would not call the lobby furnishing "antiques". Staff attitude with the excecption of one waiter at breakfast was awful - so rude and bordering on suspicious, and everyone smoking. But to their credit they let me have breakfast when...

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
