The place is very nice and cozy, with a very delightful breakfast, but is a bit far from taksim square. You need a taxi or a train to reach taksim, you can't reach it by walking, you will need a lot of time. The spa and massage in this hotel are very good.

Perfectly situated in walking distance of Hagia Sophia & Grang Bazaar. Extremely friendly staff & management. Excellent breakfast & Spa. Hotel can arrange tours. Spa was an absolute treat after a long flight.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Helpful staff, good rooms, generous buffet breakfast and close to the tram station (350m, but some of it is uphill). The bathrooms are very well equipped - loved the shower! Unfortunately the corridors do smell of smoke; smoking seems big in Turkey.

Hotel a bit small but typical of these relatively central hotels in the side streets on the golden horn. Relatively easy walking distance of the key sights if you are reasonably fit and easy access to buses and trams if you are not. As usual watch out for the taxi drivers who seem allergic to the most direct route and...

Yigitalp Hotel is a real find for your stay in Istanbul. We had a wonderful second visit to Istanbul and much of that was due to this hotel. Yigitalp is near the Sultanahmet and easily in walking distance. If you do not want to walk and enjoy Istanbul along the way, the tram stop is right around the corner and...

The Yigitalp hotel is NOT within walking distance of the Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque or the Aya Sophia.... you HAVE to be able to use the tram or the metro to get there. The rooms are cramped, and the one I had was just big enough for a double bed. There was not even space for a chair. I...

The hotel stay was good; close to the Grand bazaar and trains. We didn't enjoy breakfast. We went for our first Turkish bath in the hotel's lower level spa. We didn't know what to expect, but ended up having a fantastic experience. The 'bather' was thoughtful and discreet, and our masseuse (from Georgia) was fantastic - one of the best...

Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
