The Armada is an excellent hotel, located in the old town, but at the bottem of a moderate hill that needs to be climbed to reach the heart of old town. Seniors with any difficulty walking on cobblestones or climbing a moderate hill, will wind up taking some taxis, as I did. While Feb isn't the best weather month to...

I did not choose this hotel by travellers' reviews, but because backgammon tournament which we attended was held there. However, I was pleased upon reading the nice reviews of other hotel guests, which proved to be more than true upon our arrival! The hotel is located very conveniently, you can reach all the historical monuments very quickly (and for other...

I was here on business; the staff were helpful with printing & scanning documents, posting letters and providing information when requested. There is free wi-fi in the rooms and in public areas - it...

My husband and I stayed at the Armada hotel in March of 2010. The hotel was beautiful. There is even a fountain with turtles in the lobby. Rooms were excellent. We had an inner room and it was quiet. The breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant located on the roof was amazing. So much food to choose from and all...

Very good price for a location ON THE BOSPHOROUS near top sights, very clean, attentive service, and wonderful rooftop terrace with great views and great breakfast. The standard double room was too small so we switched to a deluxe with a small sitting room and a view of the Bosphorous. The decorating could use some pizzaz but the bed was...

The hotel is in a quiet location just off the main road into Istanbul and close to the railway station and a number of important historical sites. It is well situated to visit the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya, the Basilica cistern, the Grand Bazaar, the Spice Market. The restaurant was pleasantly situated on the top floor of the hotel giving...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
