Visiting Istanbul for the first time, my wife and I stayed, for five days, at the Dersaadet Hotel in Sultanhamut. The hotel's staff, in a quiet but friendly way, were helpful fom the first moment. Like many moderately priced priced small European hotels, Dersaardet's sinple but well appointed rooms are not large, so the efficient way in which the front...

Wonderfully kind staff. I was struck by the fact that they would standup and greet us whenever we entred the lobby; ready to answer any question. Clean and comfortable room. Very easy walk to Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Tram, Topaki Palace, Hagia Sophia and Hippodrome. Shops and small bazaar near by. Quiet street. Love hearing the call to prayer being...

From the moment you arrive to your departure these are the most accomodating, caring staff I have encountered. The complimentary shuttle from the airport is a bonus. The location is excellent, since you can walk to most of the historic sites. There are many restaurants in the area. Watch for the tiny shops which sell water, toothpaste and small products...

My friend and I loved the Hotel Dersaadet. We had a view of the Marmara Sea from our little window, but the best part about this hotel is the terrace, from which you can see the Marmara Sea stretching below, as well as the Blue Mosque. We were only a few blocks from the Mosque. The service was wonderful--very helpful...

Hotel Dersaadet is perfect -- charming small hotel with attentive, friendly staff, excellent breakfast on rooftop terrace with view of the Sea of Marmara and Blue Mosque. The interior is plush, with old Ottoman woodworking and oriental carpets. Staff is terrific. It's located within walking distance of all the historical sights that a first-timer to Istanbul should see -- Hagia...

The Dersaadet Hotel is an excellent hotel sitauted within walking distance of the major attractions in Sultanahmet (Old CIty). The hotel has an authentic Ottoman feel to it, the staff could not have been more helpful and all of our needs were catered for. The buffet breakfast is continental in style and served on the roof terrace which had lovely...

A great small hotel, walking distance to all the attractions in Sultanahmet. The staff were very friendly and helpful and provided a map, gave restaurant recommendations and helped with our coach booking to Izmir. There is also a free internet station available 24/7. Our ground floor room had a fantastic Turkish bath and shower room. Half the room was a...

This small hotel is large on service and value. From the moment we arrived we were warmly greeted and offered coffee on the rooftop terrace as our room wasn't quite ready. We had the corner suite which was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The shower/jacuzzi had the best water pressure we have ever experienced with plenty of hot water. The...

We stayed at the Dersaadet Hotel in October 2010 with some friends on our first trip to Turkey, and so were not absolutely sure what to expect, and where in the city we would be located. We were delighted by this hotel, the charm of the staff, the quiet location, the imaginative decor, and the proximity to all the main...

This is a first class hotel in every sense of the word. We appreciated the hotel’s location in the heart of the Sultanahmet district. The unique buildings and treasures of the old city were within easy walking distance. The hotel’s Ottoman style of building in wood has been faithfully captured, and the furniture, fittings, and decoration are equally authentic and...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
