Great hotel; excellent location - walking distance to major sights, close to shopping, restaurants and bars. Wonderful English-speaking staff. Hotel breakfast/bar with awesome views.

We stayed in two different rooms because of busy bookings. However, staff showed good flexibility in alternative bookings and was very helpful. Price level was fair. Overall very friendly and high level of service.

My husband and I came for our friends' wedding and stayed at this wonderful hotel for 5 nights. Enjoyed every moment of it! Staff was professional, kind, knowledgeable, polite and just always there for you. Hotel is very clean, comfortable and cozy. We stayed at the hotel for four days in the corner suite which was comfortable, clean and spacious. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, the breakfasts on the roof terrace were delicious, particularly the fruit and yoghourt and home made cakes. The hotel is situated in a quit street, so is very quiet for such a central location....

The hotel is really cozy and well-situated (3-10 mins walk to the main attractions of Sultanahmet); roof terrace with beautiful sea views. Strange, but it is also a calm place with a pair of geese living in the neighborhood. Staff is extremely helpful. In one word: highly recommended.

We only stayed here for 1 night at the end of a Black Sea cruise, but wished we could have stayed longer. The rooms are spacious and decorated traditionally, with large comfortable beds and a bath/shower combo with great water pressure as well as that all important air conditioning if you stay in the hotter months. The en-suite toiletries included...

After reading “Eye Witness Top 10 Istanbul” and checking the good reviews on the net, we decided to book our stay at the gracious Dersaadet Hotel. The location is perfect: Very central and just a few minutes on foot from the main attractions in Sultanahmet. Our room was very clean and spacious and it was newly refurbished. The breakfast buffet...

Very nice stay in a small but well appointed hotel. Staff extremely helpful, good clean comfortable accommodation and very well situated within easy walking distance of all the central sites, restaurants etc. Would really recommend this for a stay in Istanbul.

The Dersaadet is on a cobbled street, off the main drag in a very quiet part of old Istanbul and as you walk down towards it you feel you might be in another age, with the lack of traffic and people. This friendly hotel is like being in someone's home, Turkish style. The old Ottoman hotel is beautifully, simply furnished...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
