I booked a room at Sefa Hotel through Hotels.com and stayed there for 4 nights. I paid my accommodation using credit card. It's a decent place to stay; a small room with free Wifi connection, free simple breakfast and located not far from Blue Mosque and Ayasofya. Friendly staffs although one of them don't know how to communicate in English.

The only advantage is its proximity to the Blue Mosque. We stayed at the Sefa for 6 days. The room was small and upstairs. As with other reviewers we were aske for cash on arrival after we found the receptionist. Staff range from positively rude to helpful. Our rooms power went off for 2 days in the middle our stay...

I accepted and thanked we are canceling the reservation without charge. two months later they charged my card because I did not come to their hotel. The room was small, but what do you need space for in Istanbul? The hotel is located just south of the center of old Istanbul, a three minute walk to Blue Mosque. It was clean and with AC. Breakfast was classic eggs and some vegetables/fruit, tea, honey&jem packs. Enough to start your day, but what else would one expect for...

The hotel was a shocker! Small ,cramped ,disorganised reception. Staff not friendly , wanted 3 days payment upfront in Euro's and in CASH!! Room on 3rd floor with winding staircase (no elevator) with dirty carpets. Interior of room a disaster, dirty , heating /tv not working ..no view ..window leading to an exterior staircase. No cafetria or bar in premises....

Our experience was not quite as terrible as the other reviewers describe, thank goodness. We also booked through a hotel reservation service, and were told we need to pay cash upon arrival for our 5 night stay. We did that - paying in dollars for the quoted rate in Euros (exchange rate OK though not optimal). We had many problems...

To start off we were not expecting much from this place because of the price. We showed up to the hotel and were asked to wait 15 minutes after paying up front for the room. It turns out instead of the "garden view" room we booked online we were shown to a tiny room 3 ft away from the reception...

Stay here if you want but it didn't look very nice. We booked online using a credit card and when we arrived our room was given away. We were threatened about charging our credit card for five nights under the cancellation policy if we did not comply and stay in another hotel of his choice and pay cash for five...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
